I Kinda Hate To Ask This...

...for fear of starting a "my detector is better than yours" thread, but here goes. If someone was going to hunt for shallower coins and jewelry, and they were choosing between the AT Pro and the AT Gold, which would you pick and why? And let's understand one thing at the outset: both of these...

    Ear Rings

Has anyone here ever found a gold ear ring stud with their 705 using the 18.75 kHz coil? If so, do you remember close to the surface the target was located?

    The Alpha

I almost never hear anyone talking about this detector. There is plenty of discussion about its equivalent, the Fisher F2, but almost nothing about the Alpha. Why is that?

    WTB: Tesoro Compadre w/7" coil

Must be in good condition (at least 8 out of 10) and in good wokring order. Please send me a PM if interested.

    Coils

I have heard it said more than once that if you are using a Tesoro with a fixed ground balance, and you want to switch the stock coil to another size, you need to send the entire unit in to Tesoro for resetting because the new coil will not function optimally with the detector's original...

May Have To Stop Hunting For Awhile....

...at least until thermometer dips below 90 degrees again. This heat is insane. I know of a park thats about 70% shade. Maybe I'll hunt there for awhile.

Back In The Gold Bug Family

I just replaced my Gold Bug Pro that I let go far too early. Dumb move on my part. A big thank you to Bart at Big Boys Hobbies for offering me such an excellent deal. I want to take a lot more time with this detector and really get to learn it, especially in hunting micro jewelry. But I know...

    Bart @ BigBoysHobbies

Just wanted to thank Bart for my recent detector purchase. Shipment was prompt and it arrived on time. His pricing is really competitive and his accessorie packages are often much better than what you will get from big box retailers. Thanks again Bart!

    OK, I Have To Ask...

One of the reasons people say they love the Sovereign GT is that its a tone only machine with knobs and switches for settings. No screen to lie to you or to have to interface with. However, I'm noticing more and more people here are using after-market TID screens on their Sovs. So I have to...

    Pinpoint Button

I am seeing CZ-21's with the solid brass colored pinpoint button on the control panel. I am also seeing them for sale with a red button that says "pinpoint". Does anyone know about the difference? Was that red button an earlier model?

    Bottlecaps

I've searched around the forum but could never find this answer: is there a range where bottlecaps tend to fall on the ID meter? I'll dig pulltabs all day long without complaint, but I hate bottllecaps. :veryangry:

    Never Owned A Sovereign GT

But I'm thinking about getting one. The salt beach is less than an hour from my house. Problem is, if I buy one and get the small Sunray coil to go with it, I'll have sunk all my money into this one machine. That means it will have to pull double duty as a beach and as my main land machine...

    CZ-21 Coil Sizes

Any preference between the 10" and the 8"? I would not be doing a lot of hunting in the surf. Mostly wet and dry sand. Reason: the surf around here is often very rough. I would imagine the 10" covers more ground (obviously) and goes deeper, but the 8" seems likely to be more sensitive to...

    I'm Torn....

...but in good way. Tomorrow I'm going to buy my first detector exclusively for beach use in a long, long time. I've narrowed it down to two: the Fisher CZ-21 and the Minelab Sovereign GT. Now, I realize comparing the two is a bit like making a Ford/Chevy comparison as they are absolutely...

    BBS v. FBS

Is there some aspect of the BBS technology in the Sovereign that makes it better at the salt beach than the FBS technology of a detector like the Safari?

    Cibola / Silver uMax

How do these two compare to each other? I know the Cibola sports some newer technology and a higher operating frequency. But has anyone noticed superior performance in the Cibola over the Silver uMax?

Fisher Gold Bug Pro + 5x10" coil

I've have worked with the Fisher Gold Bug Pro, but it is not for me. It is a fine detector, but not suited for my style of hunting. This detector is recently purchased, so you should have almost the entire warranty available. The detector works perfectly and shows no signs of wear or tear. It...

    An Update Request...

I know that more and more people have had the chance to use their G2/GB detectors for awhile now, I wanted to follow up and see how well they were performing at the salt water beaches. I hear good things for both the dry and wet sand and even managed to locate a cople of videos of people using...

    Vaquero Tone

Does the Vaquero come standard with the lower tone like the Cibola or with the higher tone? If low tone, I assume Tesoro can make it a high tone?

    Sovereign Coils

I prefer smaller coils when I search trashy areas on dry land, but I can't seem tof ind one that is made for the Sovereign. I see the 8" coil made by Minelab and the 5x10" "Joey" coil made by Coiltek. Does anyone make one that's smaller?
