    Pittsburgh area detectors?

I might be travelling to Cranberry Township in the very near future (maybe even before Christmas) for business matters. If there's anyone interested in meeting up with me while I'm in that area, send me a PM and I'll keep you updated with more info. :twodetecting:

I'm off to a tiny beach later today during low tide.

I'm off to a tiny beach later today during low tide. I'm taking along a small shovel since the area I'll be hunting has very hard packed sand. Last week I tried an old beach which I cleared a few years ago. This was my first trip there with the AT Pro. It was very precise and quiet once after I...

Coins and silver under them bottle caps. :cam:

Went detecting a couple of hours total, in a lot where they have an annual celtic festival. Besides the tons of corona bottle caps, coins were for the picking, and even did some gold searching just to get a better feeling of the AT Pro. I used standard mode, mainly because the lot used to be a...

    Gold ore in quartz?

Every once in a while, I go out digging into a sedimentary cliff and collect the various quartz chunks I find. Well, one of these is a yellowish color, about one centimeter thick and it makes the pinpointer make noise on my ACE 250. Could there be some gold ore in it? Do you think I should crush...

    Saturday's hunt. (no photos yet).

Saturday's hunt with my AT Pro International involved a different field. Pulled out another Venetian 12 Bagattini and a gold plated button (still to be verified). The coin is heavily worn but I'll try to read the signature with my electronic microscope. I use sensitivity -2 notches from max...

AT Pro likes Venetian coins.

Went detecting only once in the past two weeks, but found a beauty anyways. It's a 12 Bagattini from the Venetian Doge Giovanni Corner II 1709 - 1722. The detail is immense, compared to my other two similar coins I have. Don't ask for the other side... It's a miracle I managed to make this...

First real hunt with my AT Pro.:garrett:

Got out on a familiar field today, just to get the feel of the AT Pro. Balanced the ground at 75, two notches down sens. Did some detecting in Pro mode but ground was full of iron and dug up some real trash. Switched to Standard mode and discriminated 65+ just to see how it does in plucking out...

AT Pro arrived today. Very good news after first tests.

Yesterday, I finished watching the AT Pro tutorial in Youtube, just to help me sink in to the AT Pro's features. Today, it arrived and I fully assembled it and did some air testing. Okay, the good news: I was curious about how it would read coins on their sides. Well, I am now very happy I...

Silver, and more silver. It ain't gold.

Here's the .925 silver bracelet I found two Sundays ago. I found the 1895 1 Korona .835 silver coin from Hungary today after work before it got dark in the woods just above the city. When I feel like there's something out there, I go out and I do find something.

ACE 250 signal jumping to iron.

I couldn't find any related post so: I have an ACE 250 with an original coil, using rechargeables or normal batteries, and sensitivity two notches off maximum. Question: Why do many targets show off at a higher (not iron) range and then on the next sways go down to iron? Power supply is okay...

Air testing coins with Ace 250 while sick at home.

Here are my readings: Euro coins: 1 cent, 2 cents, and 5 cents, all iron. 10, 20, and 50 cents, between 1c and 10c. 2 euro at 1c but between 1c and 10c on side. 10 Italian lire aluminum at 10c. 5 Italian lire aluminum between 1c and 10c. 200 Italian lire at 1c. 1$ Canada loonie at pull tab but...

Question: 1945-1965. How well did the military MD's perform in those post WWII years?

We had British and American troops here in those years, de-mining the territory. Were those metal detectors capable of finding the smaller stuff like coins or rings? Did they only detect bigger things like mines or bombs? Just wondering, since all the stuff I've found is very small. There's one...

    Today's warm silver hunt.:cam:

Along with a 5 lire and a 10 lire coin from the 50's, I also found this 5 German Mark coin (1951 J Hamburg mint) in excellent condition, .625 Ag. The weather was great. I now noticed the coin photos are turned... but since I'm having trouble with my netbook, they'll stay that way.

And a photo of the 3-eye buttons, and a one rimmed bullet. All junk found in the past 3 years. Next timne I'll post the good stuff.

Virgin Mary silver charm and thundershower.:surrender:

Got myself some worthless coins, a few empty war cartridges, and a 1830 silver (tested) Virgin Mary charm with writing in French, in the middle of the woods. Two minutes after finding it, the sky got dark, thunder rumbled overhead, and I just made it back in time to my truck before the downpour...

Just some of the junk I've found in the fields and woods.:please:

All finds from the past 6 years. This is the middle portion of the finds, leaving out the best and the worst.

2 hellers and a star. (no pics)

I was out detecting today, day off from work. Plucked out 2 Austrian coins, one metre apart in the woods. Two 2 Heller coins from 1908 and 1912. I also found a small metal communist red star, probably from a Partizan uniform. The rest were the usual fired cartridges and tons of garbage... :-( My...

    Signals jumping and videos.

I was just evaluating whether to buy an E-trac or At-pro. I looked at some of the videos and noticed that the signals seem to jump around alot, giving different readings. The Ace 250 videos were okay, but they didn't say anything about the two different noises the pinpointer makes when on...

Diggers, and first Roman coin! :clapping:

I've been watching Diggers this Summer. Neat to watch them go at it. With the cooler weather sweeping through, I managed to go detecting for about an hour yesterday, Sunday, and running back and forth between my favourite field and my truck during sudden downpours, I dug up my first hammered...
