    Bucketlister Not On List

You mentioned "Dragoons". See if you can find it's history. They were pretty much documented. One of my nephews found one and on searching California Indian Wars we were able to pinpoint the day it was lost.

    First merc

I sit here looking at your pictures and in my mind's eye, I can still see the exact place I found my first Merc in 1981.

    Kitty Hawk, NC. Detecting

I know it's the off-season but, we have a great opportunity to visit the area and stay for almost free(?). So, the question is...Is metal detecting allowed in the area's beaches?

How many remember the very first detector you started the hobby with and how long ago ??

My first was a Coinmaster 4 in 1970-71. If I remember correctly.

    Headphones?

There used to be a company, (maybe still is) that made a one-earphone unit. If I remember correctly it was called, The Rattler". I thought it worked great except for the part that goes over your head. It fit too tight around my big noggin and very quickly got to feeling rather uncomfortable...

    Update failures

BS, I am not even going to try it. I'll just sell the thing if this stuff keeps up.

This is NOT a loaded question for the legend... to those that had already purchased one..

Depth meter, meh! I never even look at the thing. Right or wrong I just dig a plug. Been doing it that way for many a year. The Ferro meter on my machine works just fine, no problems.

    Initial impressions.

I flew to California to do some detecting with a new detectorist, (one of my nephews). This was the first outing for my Legend. First of all, for me, (76 years old) the big coil was a beast and quickly wore out its welcome. I hunted mostly with the 6" and was quite happy with it. About 3 hours...

    Optional coils ?

If they did you would have fewer operating frequencies.

The Legend in high mineral soils

Good to hear. Had been wondering how it would act.
