just curious who has purchased a CTX in the last 12 months

I did this spring, moving up from a Nox 600. After much analysis paralysis and almost buying into the hype around the Deus2, I followed my gut and went with the well proven performance of the CTX.

Is Metal Detecting on the Decline?

In a way it’s the same thing that happens when you get a new car. All of the sudden it seems like everyone is driving the same model.

    RR token and?

A find of my brother’s yesterday in Clymer, PA. One side has PRR on it, the backside has a number, maybe 1892? Looks like it may be 2 coins rusted together. We’ve found pictures of RR tokens with the same PRR lettering, but are baffled with the backside.

How many remember the very first detector you started the hobby with and how long ago ??

My 1st was a kit I got for Christmas in 1974. I learned 2 things from it. 1- I didn’t have a clue how to properly solder a component to a circuit board, and 2- there wasn’t a pirates chest buried in my grandfather’s yard in Biscayne Park. At least not one that I could find.

Where are all the CTX users?

Just got mine less than 24 hours ago. Pretty excited. I had a pre-order in for a Deus II, but started to 2nd guess myself because it is such a new product and the wireless coil set up seemed like it was something else that could go wrong at some point. I was looking at the CTX for awhile before...

Best Wired Full Ear Headphones for the Equinox?

I got the Garrett wireless kit to go with my Nox 600. Works like a charm, plus I use Garrett carrot so it links up to the headphones as well. https://www.kellycodetectors.com/z-lynk-ms-3-headphones-pro-pointer-at-z-lynk-kit

    Home field advantage

I was goofing around in my yard today with a 15” coil. Found my oldest item to date, a pre-civil war button. This is the 2nd button I’ve found here. This one is a raised letter button that pre-dates the 1st one I dug. Also found a cool AAA badge. Could use some help dating this one.

    Bundle question

There’s always that one guy lol. Thanks IDX, I’m still somewhat of a newbie to it all still, but if I follow the same trend as I did with my other detectors, I don’t doubt that I’ll end up with all three before long. Just trying to pick a good jumping in point with the CTX due to cost.

    Bundle question

True. The more I think about it, the more I lean to the 6”.

Nothing great to dig, but iut was a nice spot to swing. On the bank of the Youghiogheny River at Dawson, PA.

    Bundle question

If one were to order a CTX “bundled” package, would it be better to go for the bundle with the extra 6” coil, or the bundle with the extra 17” coil? Mostly hunt farms, homesites, and parks. Only get near a beach once or twice a year.

River hunting last night pays off!

Great finds! What type of digging gear do you like for the river?

Button, button, who’s got the button?

I hesitate to reply, because this could go on without end 😄 All 3 are going to their adopted homes this weekend. Not much resale value around here, the market is saturated. We do call their mom Bobbi, short for Bobtail

Button, button, who’s got the button?

The unexpected is what has given me the bug for this hobby. I’m blessed to live somewhere that I can practice in my yard and find stuff like this. This one tops the WWI army button that I found here as well.

Button, button, who’s got the button?

They’re this years crop of kittens, and like their momma, not a tail among them. They are fascinated by the coil moving through the grass I guess.

Button, button, who’s got the button?

Swinging in the yard after work today. Nothing spectacular. A stinkin lincoln, an unknown car part, and a very old rusty door hinge. Decided to go in and get dinner and swing my way back to the door. I hit on a penny range signal and dug it. Never expected a pre-civil war button that’s for sure...

    No time like the present…..

I took my wife to dinner last night. Had a great meal and left all fat and happy. Driving home we drove past a section of sidewalk that was torn up in an old setion of town. I commented that I wondered how weird it makes me to be excited when I notice a fresh section of sidewalk tore up. Didn’t...
