You made the wise choice. Use the forum to ask/answer questions. You will be very happy with your new ETRAC. Welcome to the dark (more productive) side.

Good Luck with the new E - Trac !

In the same boat as you---reading Andy's book and waiting . Its really wierd--I lay awake at night thinking about when it will arrive---maybe I'm wierd------but i love it. Hope yours comes in soon

You'll like it. I still have my V3 but I am always frustrated when I use it. The E-TRAC is more comfortable and and much easier and more fun. Another really fun detector is the Teknetics Omega-8000, it isn't as good as the ET but it is lighter and they are both really enjoyable. I don't think it'll be too much longer before I sell me V3. I may upgrade it to the i first just to see if I like it better but I don't see me ever liking it as much as the ET or O8K.

When you get the ET search all dates on this forum for "jason's relic pattern" load it and set up for ferrous/2-tones. Deep=on; fast=on; pitch hold; auto+3. Go to an old park or yard and stop on all the high tones even if it is a one way tone. if the conductive number is good and the ferrous number is between 6 and 24 or so... dig it. You'll get some junk maybe some iron but you'll start to fine tune from there and you'll begin to pull those masked targets that everyone else has walked right over. Coil control is important with the ET. You don't have to crawl along with it, in fact you can swing pretty fast but not real fast... but keeping the coil even with the ground and skimming the ground is important.

I think you'll be really amazed at how good the E-TRAC is.

I also made the switch v3i to E-trac and never looked back. I just went back to my favorite lawn I have pounded with every new whites in the last 20 years. Nothing great, then I switched to 2 tone ferrous. Within one minute a 1936 washington, a hand painted lead? cat salt shaker, several wheaties...one of them had a nasty rusted bolt in the same hole. I am sold....
