I Finally got my E-Trac on wed. I played with it a little that day in the house. Then yesterday it was off to the front yard:clapping:
Dug the usual junk. Then I dug my first wheaty with the E-Trac:super: Today I went to an old fair grounds, The first signal 12 41 @ 4" Tryed to pinpoint the best I could, guess I was off a bit:angry:
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

the best way to pinpoint for me is to line up the cross hairs then turn 90 degrees and do it again.
then for me the coin will be at the very center of the coin where the wand and coil meet.
also, the best thing to do is get a nice hand help pinpointer such as the garret. for me this works
the very best, and really cuts down on the chance of scratching a nice coin.
I hope this helps.

Thanks, Dan I will give it a try.
I have the Pistol Probe that came with it but they don't get alone very well:argue:. I tried lowering the sen. didn't work
I am going to get the Sun Ray as soon as I have the money:bouncy:

Hope this helps.

Also, just a quick tip for pinpointing shallow coins/objects...sometimes on a real shallow coin, it will beep 2 or 3 times per sweep because the edges of the coil are "hot" too. When you get one of these, raise your coil several inches off the ground and it should only beep once unless there is multiple targets...Then you can pinpoint using the method posted by LabradorBob.:beers:

Yes ! - from what I've learned - you always have to pinpoint from two angles - 90 degrees out from each other - or else you can miss the target by up to several inches !

You also end up digging a much larger hole than is needed - wasting a lot of time trying to find the target - having a big mess to clean up - and possibly damaging a nice coin or piece of jewelry with your digger !

I never use the pinpoint button, too slow for me, lol

I just wiggle coil over target and pull back, when signal stops the coin will be directly under front lip of coil. Works so much quicker for me and always right on!

GOT A QUESTION WARE DO U GET THE COIN COVERS OR D U MAKE DAM
A coin shop that was going out of business, .50 a bag there was 50 per a bag.
I bought them all. 3 bags for pennys, dimes and quarters.

I use goes4ever wiggle method as well. it is more accurate in trash. you stay on the targeted signal this way. i sometimes end up pinpointing a close by unintended target if i pinpoint in pinpoint mode since it is an all metal mode.

exactly! this is the MAIN reason to do this, if you hunt old houses there are nails everywhere and it throws your PP off

Here's how I pinpoint first I have pinpoint in sizing then when I pinpoint and think I have center I add 3" towards me and start my cut there .also I will use heel to toe to find center HH RonC

Wiggle method is great unless trash nearby. Same with pinpoint. Above I read that the etrac will lock-in on target. Can someone explain the lock to solve issue? I am doing it wrong. Get a coin size response then adjacent alum can interfere for example. Wandering hole issue - you haz that?

Stick with wiggling, I do understand what you're saying about when there is high CO junk close to your target. Just keep with it and I promise its the most effective way of recovering, I used to struggle with pinpointing, now that I'm used to it everyone I hunt with comments on my recovery speed.

No u mean the wiggle method IS GREAT WHEN TRASH IS NEARBY!!!! that is when it is the ONLY way, if your using multi tone, then you can wiggle and HEAR the tone you want!

OK thanks. I'll develop my wiggle. Just for clarification...wiggle is the short back &forth shown on the video commonly linked...the coil stays level?

Andy Sabish mentions in his book kicking up the back of the coil for accuracy...anyone use this technique care to elaborate? I've tried the wiggle kick but not developed.

The little lady is cracking on me about tearing up a yard whenever I ask friends permission to hunt...I tells em they won't notice...she can't shut' em all they down and I figure eventually I'm gonna tear up a friends yard. Just lose my mind when I hear 1 or 12-44+

Saying I appreciate this forum. Thanks!

Terry demonstrated this very well in one of his videos very rarely will I use the pinpoint button anymore the more I use the wiggle the more I like it! That is in pinpointing :wiggle:
