THE REPORTS ARE IN - THE AT PRO IS THE MOST AWESOME DETECTOR EVER BUILT...

Are you claiming that the AT Pro is superior to White's MXT PRO, White's Spectra V3, Fisher F75, Fisher Goldbug Pro, Minelab X-Terra 70, GTI 2500 and Tesoro Lobo Supertrak? How about Minelab GP series and White's TDI PRO? Most of these detectors have a threshold control and some even have a salt/alkali switch, while the AT PRO is silent search only with no salt switch! That's quite an achievement, if it's actually true!

If this info came from dealers and distributors , the only thing it can be is advertising hype !!...... Who else has anything to gain ? ...

You'll have to excuse me for asking because I'm not sure. Which one of those machines you listed has notch discrimination, expanded iron windows, numeric target ID, comes with a DD coil standard, water proof and cost less than $600. Maybe all of them? I may want to look into one of those detectors? Being waterproof is the best selling point for me. Because I like to hunt in the fresh. All the other features of the ATpro is just gravy for me. Thank you for your time.

Seems like we have some visitors from the $1500 board. They may be afraid the AT Pro will be better than the heavy, poor balanced, slow sweep detectors they are using. I'm not sure how this will come out for them. Theirs MAY still be the deepest with the best descrim machine but I'm going to try the AT Pro. I did try their machines but they were to slow and heavy.

KInda makes ya wonder why in the world would anyone spend so much money for a machine that weighs so much , and has a processor that is so slow doesn't it ? ...... I guess it's like they say.....there's a shoe for every foot !!...... Jim

(THEY, whispering in your ear).....come on buy this new detector it is a do everything machine and will be the last one you will ever have to buy........(until next years new model or update chip). The truth is, their isn't One single detector model (or brand) that will do it all and do it well. Treasure hunting circumstances / variables are endless. The AT-Pro hasn't been released yet. Would you buy a $600 car without first test driving it ??

Just another VLF detector as far as I am concerned, but I am buying one just for my back-up if nothing else. Garrett will probably sell a ship load of them for sure.

Might as well save you money and buy the VLF Ace 150 for a backup. Cause if you buy the ATpro you will run the chance it will be your main machine.

I remember when the E-TRAC came out and some people complained about all sorts of things... mostly because they couldn't make it be an Explorer III even after ML clearly said that it was not an Explorer. Same thing will happen here and probably the only way to know if the AT-PRO is steak and potatos or a grilled cheese sandwich will be to buy one and see what you (or I) can do with it. I expect it will be a good machine to those with a good attitude and who take the time required to learn it... I just don't expect Garrett to release a new detector with some fatal flaw into todays market. Technology has gotten too good in the past few years... their engineers are not fools and they well know that we aren't fools either. I am certain that there will be two main groups of users... one group will like it. They will be both new and brand loyal Garret users who have a positive attitude and take the time to learn to use it. The other group will be new and brand loyal Garrett users who are looking for something to be wrong or not like the Garrett detector they are used to using and they give up on it before learning it or giving it an honest chance... or it could be a lemon but I just don't see that happening, that would really surprise me.. so I conclude, in my thinking that this is a detector to either jump on or watch closely... and when reading what users have to say... really read what they are saying... have they given it a chance? Did they have high or low expectations? Are they giving it a chance to be the AT-PRO or are they wanting it to be a better version of some other model?

Time will tell but after much reading here... I expect good things...

by the time I finish reading through this thread I will have convinced myself to get one... need to change up the stall a bit. T2, F75 LTD, and ExplorerSE.. out. T2 SE, G2, and AT-PRO ... IN. (and upgrade the V3 to the V3i)

Maybe.

I believe the AT-Pro ads are hard to swallow because it makes it sound too perfect. Like jbow said steak OR sandwhich....another thread compared sports car OR 4x4. The ads make it sound like this detector is a 4x4 sports car. Like the saying::: if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I'm not bitter, just cautious. For many (including me) $600 is not chump change. I wrote earlier:: only TIME will tell (the truth)......this will give me a chance to get one used.

It looks like some good stuff to me. I'm glad that it has the audio options that I see. Sometimes too much audio, is what makes a machine hard to learn. I like the two or three tones... I suppose it has one tone in AM. I like the breakpoints in iron for the middle or no tone options.. not too many choices, but enough.

I'm glad that I decided to take a closer look... I may have to try one.

Julien ,
Look forward to your report on the AT Pro ...... Lord knows you have enough to compare it to !!.... ...... or better yet . just give us the real story about the AT Pro and it's good, and it's bad ....I'm sure that a lot of us here would LOVE to read an objective report based on real world testing !!... .....Jim
