Started in healthcare IT in 1997, found the complexity fascinating. Got an MSc. in Health Informatics in 2006.
Become and independent consultant and inventor. Now live in Brazil with my wife. Pretty much retired.

Struck by the MDing bug in the early 1970s by a treasure hunting uncle.
Bought the (apparently infamous around here) Radio Shack black box detector in the early 1980s, never found much with it.
In 2008 bought a Bounty Hunter Sharp Shooter II to hunt beaches in Brazil when I first arrived here. It only worked a few months and it was too expensive to ship back for repair.
Last month I took it out of the storage room and took a look to find a section of the main PC run from the battery connector to the power switch was burned away. Jumped it with a short wire and we are back in business. Finding plenty of bottle caps, pull tabs and a few coins in the dry sand. Plans to get an AT Pro on my next trip to the US in June.

Retired now. Pretty much do as I want, within reason. Navy veteran. Flew T34, T28, SNB, EC121, and two versions of airships (342' long). Been detecting since 1974 and have owned 44 detectors(not a dealer). My daughter, her husband and my four grandchildren are the high point of my life. Live on a farm in mid east Georgia and have access to about 5000 acres to detect. Sure getting harder to find worthwhile relics but I'm pushing 80 and still detect a few hours a week. With a bad back and a slow brain I really have to push myself. Like one of my hero's. W. Churchhill- never, ever give up!

Network coordinator in charge of 20 buildings in our school district. Had a different brand metal detector and was over my head. Sold it about 3 years ago. Picked up a Garrett AT Gold in a pawn shop yesterday. Hard to tell it was even used.

I own a tax preparation business in a small town. I've doing taxes since 87.
I started metal detecting since I was in high school, my first was a compass. I joined the army right out of high school and went to Germany. Never had a chance to use it there. it was stolen.
I then bought a Whites eagle II SL to use while driving truck, but broke my back right after getting it.
I now feel up to digging again and purchased a GTI 2500. Hopefully nothing goes wrong this time.

I am retired after 38 years in law enforcement. Spent 34 years on the job and 4 in reserves. I do pretty much what I want to now. I started metal detecting in the early 1990's the best I remember. I purchased a Garrett Freedom Coin Commander and found a lot of coins back then. I still have the old Garrett and it's works as well as the same day I bought it. I would metal detect off and on over the years. I started getting interested in relic hunting and I bought a Tesero Tiger Shark and a Tesero Stringray II from a friend of mine. Still trying to learn how to use them. I am thinking of Ebaying one or both of them and getting me an AT Gold. My wife of 42 years motivates me to get out and go metal detecting as she loves it. We both have bad mobility issues and really have to push ourselves to walk so about an hour hunt at a time is all we can handle. We also own a cabin in Virginia that is 3200 feet off the road. Nothing back there but a beautiful creek that runs in front of the cabin. We spend a lot of summer time up there as I am starting a nice little apple orchard with trees that I have grafted from old apple trees on various family land. I am also an avid deer hunter and taught my 15 year old granddaughter the love of the hunt. When deer season comes in I go to my hunting house about 50 miles away and I pretty much stay there for six weeks until the season goes out. On my hunting land there are several early 1800 houses that are still partially standing and my wife and I are looking forward to detecting them along with creek hunting a fairly large creek that runs for about two miles through the property when we get our AT Gold.

Former Farmer, then mechanic for a Lincoln Mercury Dealer, then Heavy Equipment Operator, then Operators Union, and off and on small independent contractor on the side, and now Custodian for a fairly large High School. Loved them all! And in 12 years, 4 months, and 10 days, I will be a full time metal detectorist/genealogist/crappie "ist".
