Ya up to another poll?????

D&P-OR

Well-known member
I did this similar poll sometime back (just before the Etrac came out).----Be interesting to see what the answers would be now, at this point in time.------What are the THREE MOST IMPORTANT things (improvements) you would like to see on an up-graded (improved) Etrac?----As good as this thing is, there's always room for improvement, right???-----Choose carefully, Minelab may be ah listenin!!-------Del

Thermal coil to defrost tundra, built in knee pads, get rid of glare on the screen.........NGE

List them (the three most important) improvements you would like to see IN THE ORDER OF IMPORTANCE to you please.--------Thanks, Del

1. A more visible display and one that can tilt toward user left or right - Or a wearable display similar to a heads up video display with audio - wireless of course.
2. A even lighter frame all carbon fiber or similar material with a more comfortable hand arm grip mount - with a center of balance slightly behind the users wrist .
3. Even more user selectable customization of discrimination levels and alerts

HH all

P.S.I would love to discuss future improvements with Minelabs if they were interested.

edited for mistake

ML would have to endorse/pay me for my advice.

1 easier to read screen, maybe color?

2 whole lot better arm cuff so you do not have to buy a aftermarket one.

3 better pin point meter, maybe one that would be full screen and show intensity of signal.

and 4 permission slip from minelab to present to wife. Oh thats more than 3 sorry:lol:

I would say a colored screen.
White background!

I would like the cursor to show different colors for the ferrous conductive rating, say red for 12-46 to 12-50.

Third,I would like a bigger and smaller version of the pro coil available.

There were a lot of good ideas posted already in a similar recent thread http://www.findmall.com/read.php?63,1346943

These were mine:

1. Adjustable screen angle or some way to reduce glare
2. Better definition is the pulltab range with more separation of beavertails and nickels
3. A coil cover that actually covers the whole coil. You'll notice a rectangular area under where the cable comes into the coil that for some odd reason is not covered by the coil cover. Having worn through my first coil cover, I can see the wear on that part of the bottom of the coil and also see it becoming a potential problem.

As a bonus, a Sun Ray probe improvement: a sensitivity boost when switching to the SunRay probe... in auto sensitivity it definitely needs more oomph.

1.Better see through ability in iron. (Less falsing, even faster recovery and better separation )
2.(Had to steal a good one from Nick A) Better definition is the pulltab range with more separation of beavertails and nickels.
3.Better arm cuffs from the factory. (Got the Herke now, it's great.)

Just an idea on this last one,
4.An optional lower rod light that fits on the end of the lower rod, so I can see after dark.

The fourth option is probably doable using a bicycle head light some of the halogen ones are very lightweight and very bright, coming from the bicycle business I think I can figure out a "rig" job on one. I will think a bit and if I come up with a "practical" solution I will post it.

1: Heavier
2: no display
3: one button
4: beep/dig
5: never beeps on trash
6: aluminum masking

J/K... how can you improve on perfection? They improved the angle of the handle. You can add an anti-glare screen protector. I have a bad back and can hunt longer without pain using me E-TRAC than I can with my F75... mostly due to the ability to constantly and quickly tweak the length of the shaft... this really helps relieve discomfort.

There is nothing wrong with my E-TRAC... it is the King of un-masking.. the ruler of "hunted out" sites... it will embarrass most other detectors. I wouldn't trade the E-TRAC/Explorer shafts for any other.

I don't want detectors to get much better. I dread the day when someone comes out with a detector that really, truly can tell us what is under the coil with a picture or accurate metal content of an isolated target... I like that user experience is a big part of detecting.

Sounds great Bell-Two. I'm just not that creative, but would love to have a way to hunt later in the day. The backlight only helps me if I can see where I'm swinging.
Thanks

# ( 1 ) - Like others have said - better separation of target I.D. numbers for Gold - Nickels & Pull Tabs.
# ( 2 ) - A digital Depth Gauge (like the White's machines have).
# ( 3 ) - Anti-Glare Display Screen.

1. Lighter weight
2. The ability to change where the tone splits in TTF
3. Ability to noise cancel by itself every 30 minutes or constant, and when the machine is turned on without disturbing the user
4. Figure out a better location for the headphone plug. Or go cordless.
5. Waterproof.
6. Clock so that you do not get into trouble!!

In my opinion nothing is perfect in this world. I can actually sit here and think of some more. I've never been an explorer user but they have updated them and the sovereigns over the years. They would be crazy not to tweak the Etrac some more. Obviously the machine will cost more, but if the machine is worth it now just think of what it would be worth to you when it is "perfect" in your mindset.

I havent had mine long enough to list three improvements, the only thing I would like to see as an improvement is a higher mounted display with forward-backward tilt adjustability.

Good point etracjoe" 2. The ability to change where the tone splits in TTF". I agree with that one as well.

I ditto that option as well.

2. I still would like to see an hour meter.

3. The ability to modify your pattern using the computer and the mouse. I mean the tech. is there to save your patterns and "test" them with the Emulator. Why can't we modify them there, test them, and upload the change to your machine. I think it would be better than constantly pushing arrows on the face of the detector.

Hi guys----You got some pretty good "improvements" listed here (to date). :)-----Some of them "do-able" & some, maybe??? (by Minelab).-----IMFFEO (in my far from expert opinion), here's a couple of observations I've noted on the things listed so far---and by my own admission, I'm about as scientific as a "kick in the butt".-----ANYWAY, here's something I thought was kind of interesting, maybe you will to.------If I counted right (as of now)--out of 11 DIRECT listings, 7 of them (64%) mentioned the "glare issue" as STILL a needed improvement.----On that last (far less than perfect) :) poll I did (before the Etrac came out), that was high on the list also.----The glare issue has been a problem since day one (with ALL the Explorers) & apparrently STILL is considered something of a problem (are you listening Minelab)?------Also, back then "cursor bounce" was listed as a needed improvement---that hasn't been listed this "go around" and that's VERY good.-------One thing I will say--in order to be taken serious by Minelab, I think we need to stay focused on the most important improvements needed/desired (as we see it).----Not just "bells & whistles" but improvements that will help in the only area that's REALLY important----increased performance/results in the field.----------Thanks, Del
