    bent iron nails

Totally agree Jeff and I pretty much leave my Detech 8x6 coil on all the time. Speaking of nails, the only saving grace is at least people didn't drop them like they did with pulltabs...

    Noise Cancel-12" vs contact w/ground?

I'm going to say it doesn't matter but I prefer to leave the coil motionless on the ground until the E-TRAC completes the procedure. It's looking for EMI (electromagnetic interference) that could be radiating from either the air or the ground for that specific location, and selects the best...

    Etrac repairs...WHERE?

Glad you're back out detecting and that your E-TRAC was not the problem!

    Etrac repairs...WHERE?

Two Questions - when you plug your headphones into the E-TRAC, does that disable the sound coming from the E-TRAC, and when you unplug your headphones, does the sound return from the E-TRAC? If this is true, your E-TRAC is working properly. The problem will be a broken wire/bad connection with...

    E-Trac in nickels and gold

Agree with Elmy, the deeper the coin is the higher the fe number will be. I found an1857 quarter at 10" and the fe number was 20, not 12. The co number was around 46. The deeper the coin is, the fe number will increase due to the mineralization of the soil between the coil and the coin.

    E-Trac in nickels and gold

Congrats on some great Silver coin finds! If you aren't digging pulltabs (old and new style) you will miss the Gold. Two years ago, I decided to dig all pulltabs in an open park field that has held high-school graduation parties for over 50 years. The first day I did this I pulled 60 pulltabs...

    15” Coiltek questions

I don't have a 15"Coiltek coil but I was curious why there are two options available as you asked. I went to Coiltek's webpage and they only show the 15" Treasureseeker All Terrain coil with the ribs in the middle. I found the 15" Coiltek coil without the ribs (open in the middle) on a...

    E-Trac Screen

About the only thing I have been able to do to help see the numbers is to toggle the "coil icon pushbutton" to enlarge the ferrous and conductive numbers...

    1857 Seated Quarter

I posted this in the E-TRAC forum as well... Found this 1857 Seated Quarter today at a permission site. I attended Andy Sabisch's Minelab Bootcamp in 2017 here in Michigan and the class definitely paid off. I use Andy's pattern and also purchased the 8x6 Detech coil from him. The quarter was...

1857 Seated Quarter - Thanks Andy Sabisch

Found this 1857 Seated Quarter today at a permission site. I attended Andy Sabisch's Minelab Bootcamp in 2017 here in Michigan and the class definitely paid off. I use Andy's pattern and also purchased the 8x6 Detech coil from him. The quarter was down ten inches and the E-TRAC pretty much...

Sterling Bracelet mimics a Zinc Penny

I found this bracelet yesterday and wanted to post this here to explain how a Sterling bracelet will appear to be a zinc penny. I had a 12-36 displayed on my E-TRAC yesterday and since a zinc penny gives a reading of 12-37, I figured I was going to dig another zinc penny. I was glad I dug this...

    Sterling Bracelet

I had a 12-36 displayed on my E-TRAC yesterday and since a zinc penny gives a reading of 12-37, I figured I was going to dig another zinc penny. I was glad I dug this signal because it turned out to be a Sterling bracelet. The bracelet was laying flat which explains the low conductivity...

    Ring found and returned

My wife and I are vacationing in the Florida panhandle. I do some fishing and detecting of the beaches. I was working a beach yesterday at sunrise (less people around) and was asked by a young man if I could look for a sterling ring his friend's daughter lost. I of course said yes, and asked...
