What one man has done on his stretch of beach

A CLEAN BEACH HELPS ALL OF US METAL DETECTORISTS!!! If we spend less time (re) digging tabs and bottle caps we'd be spending more time digging coins and gold jewelry. Let's all help each other, not to mention the planet, and pick up our trash. BTW Just found this 4" hook with a 12 ft metal...

Great finds and location. Continues to amaze me how nice silver coins come out of the ground.

Florida beaches - which ones are open

All Florida state park beaches are closed. On west coast - Clearwater beach is closed, Honeymoon island and northern beaches (Howard park) are closed. I believe Sarasota beaches (longboat, ledo, siesta key) are closed. Boat ramps remain open at several locations.

Dig’em All or Dig Select Targets?

Since “The Man” closed all the beaches in Florida, and I’m in Florida to detect all the beaches, I face a dire dilemma. Go crazy or detect places other than beaches here in Florida. So I went to the local county park and before “The Man” kicked me out, I was able to do the following experiment...

    Double "D"

Congrats on the 14-D!! Been hunting for one of those all my life; first as a young Numismatist in the 1950s-60s and now as a Metal Detectorist in Florida...always thought I'd find one near Hen's teeth.

Forget about the doom and gloom on TV, I had silver to find

Aaaauuuu. Need to MD but they just closed all the beaches in Florida, my prime hunting grounds...May have to resort to, can I say it; Dirt digging. That sh*t is hard... 2020 Gold - 20 Silver - 30

    Florida Wet Sand/Water Hunting

Might not matter...all Florida beaches are currently closed. Might expect them to reopen...sometime...but any body's guess...Have a backup plan, perhaps parks? Check local restrictions.

TARSACCI MDT 8000 & EQUINOX 800 Salt Depth Comparison

Since the Tarsacci MDT 8000 is a selectable frequency machine, with 4 available frequencies; it is not clear from the video what frequency was used and why? Also with the salinity adjustment on the Tarsacci, which seems time consuming, that adjusting the machine for detecting a known nickel at...

    Florida Beaches.

I keep detailed records of my hours spent MDing and detailed finds. Historically in Florida I have found 1 gold piece for every 200 or so coins and average about 7-8 coins/hr on beach hunting ( about 1 gold piece per 25 hrs). This year has been unusually good to me and I have averaged 1 gold...

    Software Fe Update for Equinox

Bought my Nox 800 last May and thought it would have been all up-to-date in terms of software but I just went to the Minelab site and downloaded the new Fe update. Its suppose to help get rid of the bottle caps, which I have found plenty of even with high iron rejection. I think it might help...

Been laid up for a week!

Yea, I too am recovering from something now pushing a week and being away from my detector is worse than being away from sex! I am absolutely going stir crazy inside and need a fix real bad. Someone should invent MD juice to deal with the cravings!

Clean Your Equinox Power Cord Terminals

I was on a 5 hr hunt yesterday when my WM08 module died; it started to loose signal from the Equinox and finally stopped producing sound. I had charged both the detector and WM-08 module prior to hunting and had used it many times before the current hunt. I was able to finish the hunt by...

    Brass Railroad Identification Tag

Great find. When I first saw the title, it reminded me of railroad date spikes (to date railroad ties), I use to "collect" back in the 60s. In fact, I think I still have them...somewhere. About 3/8" wide x 2 1/2" long, the date was on the head. Thanks for the memory.

Most Coins Found in One Hunt

Spent 5 hrs and 40 minutes hunting dry sand with my Equinox 800 today at a beach I call “Coin beach”. Oddly, I only find coins there and there is (almost) a total lack of jewelry. Not sure why. One possibility for the large number of coins is that the shore slope is very mild and when storms...

A couple of old large cents 1796 -1798?

Do not clean them, except gently with soap and water! They both may be valuable (100s - 1000s) depending on exact date and variety. Best to take to an early copper coin Numismatist/dealer for attribution. Don't have my coin reference books with me but any copper before 1800 is worth pursuing...

    Class ring vdi numbers

I found a female's 1966 10K 5.6g class ring last month that rang in at 16. Now I have to dig all the pull tabs at 16! Yikes. Please note that there is a positive correlation between VDI number and gold ring weight; the heavier the ring the larger the VDI number. So if you want an accurate...
