A 2 Silver Day and thoughts on the new CTX 17!

Got the new 17" coil in yesterday and had a few hours to get out today. After several of the reviews I was worried about it picking up very small objects....i have to say, i think it's actually better at finding them than the stock coil!! Ended up with 3 Wheats (19, 36, 45), the pair of 1916...

    Long lost ring returned!

Haven't been able to really get out in a while...but made it out this weekend to search the campus where i work. Yeah, it was technically part of the job, but sure was nice to get out and dig. Was searching for relics from a plantation that used to occupy the land. It was a civil war site...

    Two WW1 Collar Discs

Spent several hours today at one of my favorite locations... unfortunately I think i've picked out most of the silver...but did pick up these 2 collar discs today. Plus the star (which is also posted in the what is it forum). Any ideas?? The site i'm hunting is dated from 1890-1925.

Unknown Disc...blue and white star inlay...help?!

Found this today at a site that dates between 1890 and 1925. It's a little over 2" in diameter. It looks like it had a pin on the back for pinning it on clothes.

Deepest find and best CW find for me!!

(posted this in Civil war as well...but just had to show off the depth of the e-trac here...) Left the house to go coin hunting at a site dating back to 1815. Tons of trash and only dug a couple coins (early 1900's pennys) but that didn't really matter once i came across what's in the photo...

    Eagle Officer's Sword Belt Plate!

Well, left the house to go coin hunting at a site dating back to 1815. Tons of trash and only dug a couple coins (early 1900's pennys) but that didn't really matter once i came across what's in the photo below. A nice mini ball and my best CW find ever... a Eagle Officer's Sword Belt Plate...

Lumber Token, 3 buttons and Makeup Compact

Was a little disappointed that I didn't find any silver today...but had a few interesting finds anyway. The makeup compact says "Three Flowers" "Robert Hudnut" "New York Paris". I found that this particular one was made in 1915 and '16. I was able to open it just a crack to make sure there...

2 Buffalos in a Wheat field

Back to the old sawmill today....I just knew I would be bringing home more silver, but it just wasn't meant to be I guess. So far this year this site has produced a 1853 Seated Half-Dime in very good condition, 1909 Barber Half in great condition, 1897 Barber Dime that's pretty worn, 10 to 12...

Question about Gold Readings on E-Trac

I recently got permission to hunt a church camp-ground site that has been (and still is) in service since 1945. Summer camps all summer plus other events all year round. Prior to '45 it was the site of an old school and several homes. From what I understand it's never been hunted (at least in...

    Need Help -- Masonic Symbol

Went back to one of my favorite sites today, an early 1900's sawmill ghost town. Lots of great finds in the past and today was no different. Picked up a 1897 Barber Dime plus the item you see in the photo. It's a 32 degree Masonic logo -- but I have no idea what this particular design was used...

Last Explorer Find for a while??

Just recently started posting again after 8 or 9 years! Yes, it's been too long. Have an e-trac on the way, but got out with the explorer II for a bit today for probably the last time for a while. Went to an old sawmill town that disappeared in the 30's. I've hunted it many times and always...

    From Explorer II to E-Trac...

Hi guys -- First I just wanted to say that this is a great forum that I read often -- great information. I used to post here LONG ago.. back around '01 or '02 I would say, but just re-registered so I could start posting again. I've metal detected now for around 15 years -- although the last...
