    Found a wheatie

Took the Xterra 705 to a Roosevelt school in Virginia this morning and hunted for a few hours despite some brutal wind. I dug 30 pennies while I was there, but I found the one I was looking for ... a 1944 wheatie. That makes my 5th one for the year. No silver today, but there is always next...

    My first silver coin!

Took the Xterra 705 to a school yard today in the heart of Virginia and found my first silver coin!!! I also walked away with 20 quarters, 10 clad dimes, and my 5th dollar coin for the year. Thanks for looking! Amanda

    Found some lost milk money

Took Thanksgiving week off from work so I got to spend some quality time with the Xterra 705. I hit some parks and schools and made the following finds. The first photo is everything from Sunday through Friday. It was slow going, and for some reason, my readings were off on the Xterra, but I...

    Found a few quarters

Took the Xterra 705 to two school yards over the weekend and managed to find a few quarters. Other finds included 6 dimes, a nickel, a few pennies, a house key, a key chain from a local car dealership and two lacrosse balls. Thanks for looking and HH! ~Amanda

    Challenge coin

Took the Xterra 705 to a local school yard yesterday... Found some quarters, the mouth piece from a trumpet and my first challenge coin! It read like a $1 coin when I went over it, so I was a bit surprised to see something larger pop out of the ground. You never know what you might find out...

    200th Quarter!

This weekend was my 5 month anniversary metal detecting. I started the week at 158 quarters and though I really wanted to hit 200, I didn't think it would happen, especially since I had to go into work for several hours today. I am happy to say that thanks to a school yard that seems to have...

    Best day so far

I've been detecting for about 3.5 months now and today's haul is my best so far. I took the X-terra 705 to the usual school yards and parks and found my 4th dollar coin (in the first hole I dug this morning :bouncy:). I also found 21 quarters today, a new record for me, and my daily total...

    My second wheatie!!!

Took the Xterra 705 to a school yard yesterday evening once it finally cooled off a bit. Didn't find too much out there, but I did manage to pull my second wheatie!!! It's a 1953. I'll take it!!! Thanks for looking. HH ~Amanda

    My first wheatie!!!

Took the Xterra 705 out to a few local parks today. I wasn't getting much more than pennies with a dime thrown in every so often and was about to call it a day when I found my first wheatie!!! I was so excited!!! That was the inspiration I needed to keep going. I also found 10 quarters and a...

    Beautiful evening for a hunt

Spent a few hours this evening with my Xterra 705, enjoying the beautiful weather and unwinding after a very stressful week (I will ignore the fact that it is only Wednesday). I was also enjoying the sound of quarters in the ball field I was hunting. This is a new record for me, so I'm pretty...

    Weekend Finds

Got permission to take the Xterra 705 to an old house site over the weekend. I was only out for about 2 hours, but managed to dig up some things that are a mystery to me. The round thing is 7 inches in diameter and an inch thick. The larger metal thing inside of the round thing is 2.5 inches...

    Weekend Finds

Got permission to take the Xterra 705 to an old house site over the weekend. Being new to this, the only things I could identify in the field was one of the buttons and the hinge. Fortunately with the help of a few friends, I can now ID the items in the first picture: an old gas light, a piece...

    Quick afternoon hunt

Had about an hour this afternoon before going to my other job so I took the Xterra 705 to a local park to see what I could find and enjoy the beautiful weather. I dug a few pieces of interesting trash that helped me learn a little more about my machine, but my surprise of the day was the weight...

    Quarters & Pennies

Went to two school yards yesterday with the X-terra 705. Spent about an hour detecting around a soccer field and found 2 quarters, 2 dimes, and 3 pennies. Moved to the playground where I found the $1 coin last week and found the other 5 quarters within the first 30 minutes. It was pretty much...

    Need Help with ID

When I'm not metal detecting, I do some gravestone conservation work. I found these on Sunday in a local city cemetery and they were being used as shims on a gravestone that is now off of its base. I've never seen anything like this used before as a shim, so my guess is that it was something...

    First $1 coin

Hit a couple of school yards with the X-Terra 705 and some patient friends and found my first $1 coin. I've only been at this for about a month, so it was nice to find something other than pennies!!! My total haul for the day was $3.15, some interesting pieces of metal that I have yet to...

    First time out

Went metal detecting for the first time yesterday. Spent two hours in a local park with a X-terra 705 and a very patient cousin and found 51 cents -- a 2006 quarter, 1980 quarter, and 1979 penny. I guess you have to start somewhere! Thanks for looking. ~mander
