    Coiltek 10" x 5" coil for Equinox

I think most people missed my point regarding the Coiltek 10" x 5" search coil for the Equinox. Because that coil detects the entire length of the coil where the two "D's" overlap, I believe it is in actuality a full 10" inch coil, and is only one inch less than the standard 11" Equinox coil...

    Coiltek 10" x 5" coil for Equinox

These new Coiltek coils are still on pre-order, so no, I do not have one, but I am interested in the smaller one that I described in my post.

    Coiltek 10" x 5" coil for Equinox

The new Coiltek 10" x 5" search coil for the Equinox is advertised largely as a small coil to get into tight places and one to sniff out coins in high trash areas. However, in terms of ground coverage (and depth) isn't it in reality a full 10 inch coil, only one inch smaller that the standard...

    Equinox Skid Plate

I use the Equinox skid plate all the time, except when I am hunting in beach sand or fine playground sand. There I take the skid plate off and try to keep the coil an inch or so above the sand. If I leave it on in the sand the skid plate fills up real fast.

    Any Good Metal Detecting Magazines..?

It's a shame in the USA the only metal detecting PRINTED magazine left is American Digger. American Digger is an excellent magazine but it is somewhat expensive and its main focus is mainly on relic hunting and especially Civil War relic hunting. I am mainly a coin hunter. For years I enjoyed...

    Batteries?

The Minelab WM 08 Wireless Module lists for $259!

    Batteries?

How long do the batteries in the WM 08 Wireless Audio Module and the ML 80 headphones last? In other words, how many times can you re-charge them until they need to be replaced? Do they have batteries that can be replaced or do you simply have to buy totally new units? The WM 80 Wireless...

    Equinox Depth-Part 2

The responses in my "Equinox Depth" post went a little off the mark. So I've decided to re-post with some exact text from the White's V3i manual relative to simultaneous multi-frequency. And once again, I wonder aloud if the below text will be what we will see in the new Equinox Detectors...

    Equinox Depth

I have only one question relative to the upcoming Equinox. Some of you have been comparing the new Equinox to White's V3i Detector. I believe I read several year's ago when the V3i first came out that White's stated the V3i was not as sensitive (as deep) when you ran all three frequencies at...

    Noise Cancel

I have used the Minelab Safari for a number of years now, and almost always in the sensitivity auto mode. It is very easy to use the noise cancel in this mode with the detector coil right on the ground (as recommended by Andy Sabisch in his book). Recently I have started to adjust the...

Detech 10 x 5 SEF WSS Search Coil

I enjoy using my Safari detector, but at 75 years of age, I cannot swing the 11" standard coil anymore and have replaced it with the SEF 8 x 6" coil. I like that coil very much especially for trashy parks. However, the few silver dimes I continue to find are mostly Mercs at the very edge of...

    SEF 8 x 6 Coil for Safari

Just purchased a beautiful new SEF 8 x6 Coil for my Minelab Safari. Can't wait for winter to leave us here in Wisconsin. One issue with this new coil--The scuff cover is harder to get off than a Tesoro scuff cover. I noted that a few of you have glued the cover right on with silicon or some...

    What Metal Detector?

I live in Wisconsin and have been metal detecting for 38 years and am mostly a coin hunter. I have used virtually every brand of detector on the market, and many that are long gone. I am a bit of a chicken about asking for permission to hunt on private property so I end up hunting mainly town...
