    Lovin’ the NOX 900

Had occasion to detect in a small town in Southern Utah. I detected here two years ago and did alright, recovering a Buffalo nickel and a silver rosy, in addition to the normal, newer change. This year, we stayed for a few days and I put in about 4-1/2 hours detecting. Don‘t know if it was the...

    What is it?

Looks like pieces of milk glass. 1930s or ‘40s.

Another good day with the 900

My last day, here in SLC. Spent a few more hours at the place where I’ve had good luck the previous few days. Four more wheaties, a Buffalo nickel, a couple of bucks in modern coinage and another silver ring, this time a man’s. These few days have really shown me what the 900 can do. One big...

I think what I found might be something melted in a fire. Here’s hoping it valuable.

Getting much more comfortable with the 900

Visiting Utah‘s capitol for a few days. Always love coming here because of cooler weather and older areas for detecting. Perfect for getting more experience with the 900. Pictured is three days of finds. I know that there are lots of fellow detectorists in this city, so I am gratified by what I...

How many remember the very first detector you started the hobby with and how long ago ??

My Jetco did OK in established lawns (maybe 3”, if conditions were right), but in the desert dirt surround the air force base where I was stationed, it literally would not find a one cent piece lying on the surface of the ground.

How many remember the very first detector you started the hobby with and how long ago ??

In 1973, I bought a Jetco BFO detector at a yard sale. I was stationed at George AFB in California, so I searched lawns throughout base housing. I found mostly newer cents, until one day I dug a 1944 Walking half dollar. That was the beginning of a wonderful 50-year hobby.

The danger of selling metal detectors on Ebay

I have drastically limited my Ebay transactions. Just too many shady people, trying to bilk someone. Way too bad, because it used to be a great site to buy and sell on.

    I love my NOX 900

Got out again today with my new machine. Running factory defaults in Park 2, noise cancelled, GBed, and sensitivity 12 (probably too high for this desert dirt). I found 28 zinc-Lincs, 6 copper Lincoln’s, a Jefferson nickel and two clad dimes…AND a what I assume to be a US Navy Waterbury cuff...

    First gold ring today!

Great work. It is sometimes tough to dig all the signals, but you proved the reward is there.

    Legal Question About Find

I would quit talking about it and enjoy. Chances are that they were hidden decades ago and the person that concealed them is long dead, along with immediate family. There is, of course, the “Law.” But, there is also common sense. I’d choose common sense.

    New NOX 900’s first silver

Only found one coin today with my new 900, but since it was a 1947 Roosevelt, I’m not complaining. Kinda on the crusty side, but I could tell it was silver as soon as I saw it. Used default Park 2, GBd, 5 recovery speed.

Out this evening with my new Equinox 900

I received my new NOX 900 this afternoon. After charging up the headphones and the detector, I figured I’d have perhaps an hour after dinner to test it out. I went to a vacant lot I recently hit with an 800, which had previously been the site of a 1940s house. My finds that time were limited to...

    What is EQ800 Worth?

I have a used 6” coil and a lower shaft I’m looking to sell, if you haven’t found one. Both in perfect condition. Message me for details.

    Two Nickels signals....

I’ve experimented (as I’m sure many others have, also) by using the larger stock coil and then putting on the 6” coil and going back over the same ground. Tha smaller coil does the job! It will find good targets that give the stock coil problems.

    Two Nickels signals....

Went back Tuesday to the slammed park I’ve been hunting lately and having success with the NOX 800/6” coil. Wasn’t finding much...not even any zincs (actually, wasn’t digging them). About twenty minutes into the hunt, I got a 12-13-14 signal, but mostly favoring 13. Depth indicated aroud 6”, so...
