    Sunday Old Homestead 3khz coil....

Wow, this coil is hot on silver, copper and brass. I worked the old homestead again. Posted the junk pic. Lots of copper and brass junk, and a marble! I think marbles are the best omen for a good hunt, shows activity and kids, both mean silver! This is by no means all of the junk, I didn't...

    Today's old homestead finds...

Went to my uncles farm, and hunted at the end of an old hedge row, that is now a field. Lots of old iron junk, but any little relics I have found seem to date the area at the late 1800's. Today I found a nice IH and a little copper buckle. This was my first coin at the site. I scanned that...

    I need your guidance...

Here are the parameters... I use an x70, I live in a central NJ town that was established pre revolutionary war. Just for background my three best finds in town are a NJ copper, a VA penny, and a US 1/2 dime. They were all found on private property that I had permission to hunt, and I didn't...

Today's finds at an old park

First time out with the 6" 7.5 coil. It did a very nice job. Five wheaties, 1957 rosie, and a 1943 war nickle. It very gave a nice solid signal in the nickle range, as you can see by the 8 other nickles. I didn't take a picture of the 30-40 old english 800 malt liquor screw tops that read a...

    Just stating the obvious...

I purchased a 5 pack of Minelab Nuts and Bolts of a dealer (not a board sponsor), or course they forgot to ship, supposedly shipping again, whatever. Paid about $12 bucks with shipping. Went to Lowes today and a two pack of nylon nuts and wing bolts, 2 inch 1/4 #20, about $1.29. Shame on me...

Two interesting finds at the old homestead this weekend

These are two finds I cleaned up in olive oil. The one on the left says B.B. Co New York. They manufactured oil lamps and it appears to be the wick adjuster. It still has a rusted small rod coming out of the back. It is made of copper. The seconds says H. Disston and Sons Hilada, with a...

    Couple of finds Old Homestead

I worked an old homestead today on my uncles farm. There was a ton of pig iron and junk. I found a couple of copper pieces I have soaking in olive oil. I have pics of two things I found. The large gear piece seems to be zinc coated copper. I was using my x70 with the 10.5 hf dd coil. I...

    Maybe a dumb question.

I just bought a minelab detector bag that came with the minelab treasure pouch. Why do the pouch loop openings go north/south, and not east/west to attach to your belt??? Just wondering. Dave in NJ

    Just had to ask..

I routinely peruse other boards, so I have to ask this question. I don't know if the person was being sarcastic, but is anyone on this board routinely finding silver dimes at 18 inches and silver quarters at 2 feet? Using the x70. Just had to know. Thanks Dave in NJ

Today's find 1st silver of the year!

Hunted at farm my Uncle manages. It has been gone over before. I started at an area with an old bording house. I have hit this house with every detector I have owned. Today with my 70 was by far my best day. I was hitting clads from the 60's (after '64). Then would hit an occasional...

    Anyone using the 3khz coil?

I primarily coin hunt, anyone have any field use with this coil. I am finding some falsing on deeeeep iron, which is acceptable. I may get that signal bouncing around in the 30's, then during pinpoint it goes to minus 6, I have never found a coin. The web site says it gives improved iron...

First time out with new X70

Went to test it out in a park, I've been over many times, found 3 wheaties, along with a bunch of clad. Went to a friends yard and found a 1885 2 cent piece. Obviously it is corroded pretty good, tried cleaning it up with MS70 coin cleaner. Date appears to be 1885. So far I love this...

    Kinda of a Bummer

Ordered my x70 on thurs from AMDS. Got email confirm to expect unit in 5-7 working days. Figured no use rushing home on Monday, sure enough had that little USPS slip saying no one was there to sign for the unit. Especially tough considering it was 60 degrees in NJ today. However, I'll slip...
