Largest nuggets from Mexico and Central America

I can't find much info at all on the subject of the largest nuggets from Mexico and Central America other than the Boot of Cortez. Does anyone know much about those nuggets and where they were found? Thanks James

    Small Gold with Infinium

I have a small gold nugget, maybe a little bigger than birdshot, and containing some quartz, from Alaska. My MXT and Sovereign GT both find it when I lay it on the ground, but so far the Infinium [with the 8 in mono coil] will not. Just what are the optimum settings, procedures for this machine...

    Waterproof headphones

I still can't decide on the best waterproof headphones for the Inf. Had been thinking of the Grey Ghosts but still confused as to what to do for a waterproof connection. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Scoop Project

I found this in an old friend's field and he gave it to me but does not know what it was for or how long it has laid there. Seems like a well made piece of stainless. Is it worth trying to make a beach scoop out of it and how should it be done? Or should I just save up for a Stavr? Any advice is...

    Grey ghost underwater headphones

I'm thinking of buying the Grey Ghost underwater headphones for my Infinium but need to know where to get the adapter if there is one. Could someone tell me where to get a good one? I doubt I could make one. Thanks.

    5 inch excellerator coil

Just wondering about the 5 in excellerator coil for small gold. Has anyone used it on the GT for that or nugget hunting? The one on my MXT works great and even gets decent depth. Thanks

    New Infinium LS

I just ordered [arrives Monday they say] a new Infinium LS. I've been downloading and reading as many posts as possible from this forum for the past few weeks. Thank you all for the information you have provided. I was leary of buying this detector after reading about all the problems yall have...

    Disc and Notch

I've been having a great time finding coins and trash with the GT and the 8 inch Tornado, definitely still in the learning mode. The only meter I have is the bar graph, but I'm learning to use it and it's a great help. Most advise no notch or disc but for what it's worth let me report what I'm...

    First impressions of GT

I've only tried the GT in my test garden so far. It's not as heavy as I thought it might be, but I haven't swung it for hours yet. Except for the coil, not any heavier than my MXT. The 10 inch coil is a little heavy, maybe I'll sell it and get the S12 later. I'll be hip mounting mainly to...

    COILS

My MXT is great. I use the 5 inch Excelerator coil most of the time. Before that the 6x10 Eclipse. I have the stock 9 inch Eclipse which I've never used. I feel I'm missing out by not having the 5.3 Eclipse. I would like to keep the expense down but would probably miss one of those coils if I...

    BACKUP DETECTOR

I'm happy with my MXT, but trying to decide on the best backup detector. I've got a variety of other machines, the Gold Bug 2, the IDX Pro, the Gold Scanner Pro, and a couple of others. I may sell all but the MXT and go for a Sovereign or Musketeer, if I can find one. Could I get your opinion...

You might want to check out surveying.org and tell me how to better use it. James

    possible meteorite????

Could someone tell me if this might be a meteorite? It must be at least 5 times as heavy as quartz, attracts a small magnet on a string, is silver shiny on the window I filed on the corner, streaks a real light grey. My MXT says nickle on one side and copper on the opposite side. Thanks. James

    PROSPECTING WITH THE EXCALIBER

How useful would the Minelab Excaliber be for prospecting? And would it be as good as the Sovereign GT? I've heard the Excaliber will easily find BB sized objects. Thanks for your help anyone. James

Coils for MXT and IDX Pro

I have the IDX Pro with 5.3 Bullseye coil and the MXT with 6x10 Eclipse coil. For hunting really trashy sites, should I get the 4 inch Bluemax snooper for the IDX Pro or the 5 inch Excellerator for the MXT?? Thanks for all the advice. James
