Competition from other Metal Detector people?

I've counted 6 people using metal detectors at one time on our Lake Beaches in my area even at 5:00am and especially on weekends. They detect the prime areas and leave little or no finds behind. It's getting tougher and tougher to find silver coins and jewelry in these areas. Is anybody else...

    Big fake? diamond ring today.

My heart started thumping today when I saw the top of this big diamond ring in 2" of dirt. But it isn't real. #12-42 ID. It looks like silver but the inside of the ring is worn, however the outside is in excellent shape. .51 ounce weight. Found it with my 6"x8" SEF Coil.

    MORE ODD FINDS

I found these items on a 2 day hunt ( 9 hours ) using my 6"x8" coil. Lake beach, playground and school site. I've been averaging 50-60 coins at each hunt ( 4.5 hours ). Mostly clad with a couple of silver coins. Some odd finds again.

The greatest metal detector at $1500 or less is the E-Trac.

Does everybody agree or anybody disagree?

    Father's Day Soldiers

Let us remember our Soldiers overseas on Father's Day. Some of them are also Fathers.

    Quantity, not Quality

Today I found 71 coins (Clad) and some other stuff during a 5 hour hunt in a modern school track field. This is a record for me. E-Trac was going great today finding those coins. How many coins have other forum members found in a given amount of time.

    Strange Finds for last week.

I found these strange finds last week. I don't know what the square shaped ( center ) 14 kt. gold item is? The silver half-dollar has a .22 caliber bullet embedded in it but did not go through the 1/2 dollar.

    Don't discard some 'clad' cents.

These 'clad' cents are worth some money. You may be losing out if you don't dig and find these 1-cent coins:1999, wide am, 1992D, close am, 1984, doubled ear, 1983, double-die rev., 1972, double-die obv.

    E-Trac grip protection

Photo below on left shows a small car wash clothe, 2 girls hair stretch cords which are easily mounted on the E-Trac grip to protect the black sponge material (right photo).

Sensitivity hit 31 in auto +3

Sensitivity is supposed to only go to 30, yet in auto +3 it stayed at 31 for a few minutes. I'm not complaining but how is this possible? Has anybody else had this happened to them? I found a ring yesterday when the sensitivity was at 31.

    Mystery Ring

I found this ring today in 4" of ground. Target number was 12-41. It weighs about .15 oz. No inscription inside. Looks in good shape, but I'm not sure if it's 10 carat gold or what ? Found about 28 clad coins with it. Hard to find silver around here lately.

What does Metal Detecting mean to you?

For me, it's the exciting discovery of something of historical value first and monetary value second. When I go detecting, I temporary forget my problems. I enjoy the weather when it's good and enjoy meeting people whom are interested in metal detecting. The exchange of comments and ideas...

    First 13 days finds w/ new E-Trac

My new E-Trac (13 days old) produced these finds plus about $12 in clad coins. Nothing remarkable here. The ring does not contain a diamond, but this particular park has groups of metal detector people that hunt here 3 times a week according to the 'Parks' personnel. Evidently they missed a few...

Garrett Pro Pointer double the sensitivity

Many of you know the 'coin trick' to double the sensitivity of the Garrett Pro Pointer. I used a washer, instead of a coin, in this configuration. I used a heavy fishing line and positioned the electrical tape on each end to hold it against the side of the unit. The washer should be in this...

    New E-Trac owner

I just bought a new E-Tract yesterday. I've been using a Safari and will keep it as a back-up because I like it. I'm hoping that I will receive better ID targets with it's discrimination patterns and it's ferrous and conductive numbers.

    8"X6" S.E.F. COIL DEPTH

I'm very impressed with my 8"x6" SEF Coil depth which I air tested after I received it via UPS today using my Safari. The Coil at #20 sensitivity: Penny = 11.5", Nickel = 11.5", Dime = 11", Quarter = 12", Half Dollar = 12.5" One Dollar Coin =...

Will the Sunray Pinpointer work with the Safari?

If the Sunray Pinpointer works with the Safari, is it better than the Garrett Pro-Pointer? I would appreciate any information someone has on this question. Thanks.
