Took the 8 by 11 for a stroll..

First the shaft opening seems to be wide, going to need a shim to maintain angle. . With new batteries in the "V", it wanted to crank. Hit the second day after an Art Show. .,,, so I was about number ten.. The wider scan of the coil makes for faster coverage than a stock coil. Not as fast as...

Get an Extra Inch, maybe free...

Some time earlier on this site , I said that you should have the coil soldered to the electronics...I got the new coil for my Vaquero , ran a quick air test on various coins, pulled the stock coil, and discovered the new coil had one pin too many.. Put the old coil back on, tried the air test...

Took the turtle creek swimming..Lucky to be alive.

I bought a Turtle detector that uses a Tesoro BFO circuit.. Air distances cent app 4 inches, nickel less, Clad Quarter 6 and better...I wanted it to check a site...By the way, those distances, while you think they suck, will cover most of the stuff in shallow creeks...The targets I'm looking...

Had a Turtle come, visit, and decide to stay a while

I saw a Tesoro Turtle come up for sale, bought , it arrived today ,.BFO, may do what I want it to do.. Water a bit high so I'll wait, maybe do some land hunting in the corn fields since the stalks are all knocked down.. Couple of people claim these are the best areas to find large cents(?)

    Ground Balancing suggestions

1... After you have ground balanced, do it again about 15 to 20 minutes later when the coil temperature and electronics have matched the air temps... 2...The ground balance at the bottom of hills may be different at the bottom as opposed to the top due to the possibility of more moisture at...

    Gold, Compadre, Silver, Vaquero comparison

I have a small ear ring post... Found with the Vaquero, removed something and used just about amounted to a 1/ 2 in gold wire, A Compadre 5 inch coil found it.. A Compadre 7 inch coil, next to nutten honey. My second silver UMax, rolled it on the coil, no signal.. Vaquero inch and a half in...

Third time out with the super show off Vaquero

Got permission to hunt the 1830 house.. It was hit before... . However, El Vaquero decided to nail an 1801 large cent.. With 3 in 1 oil ,the zero and one stand out. Of all the large cents I've found, this is the first draped bust variety. Really deep, about four inches.. I guess that could be...

    Second time out this Year

Wandered around where I found the silver dime and charm first trip.. This time a total of 80 some cents as a Thomas Jefferson dollar coin(first one of these), two clad quarters, three clad dimes, some cents. One , down to almost the depth of my Pro pointer was totally green.. Thought it was an...

Firsttime out thisyear, Vaquero, and the CS coil

First nice day, and the Clean sweep coil hit a pull tab, then three "'fun for you "'game tokens," no cash value" which were down at 3 and 4 inches.. Two clad dimes , then a silver 64 came back into the light after being buried at 4 inches or so for 51 years. Two clad quarters then a silver...

    Waited 45 years

Got permission to hit a spot I wanted to hunt for 45 years. Clay, ground a rock...Jabbo saying use the C/S coil and surface hunt, come back with the deeper brown coil after it rains. I have until cold weather. A very active private property used since 1922.... Going to get new batteries for the...

Vaquero for Otter Box in water.

I have a 10 turn modified Vaquero Also an Otter Box rig that was originally set up for a Compadre to use in water, I bought a brown 8? inch donut coil since it slides through the water with much less effort than the stock coil. Problem is that there are two miles of cable between the coil and...

Have you replaced the stock coil on a 4 PIN Tesoro?

If you replaced the stock coil for general hunting , with something other than a 5.75 small coil, what did you pick, and how did it compare to the 8 by 9 coil..

    Modded Cibola or Tejon

I have a modded Vaquero (ten turn GB by Sven),and was wondering about either a Tejon, or buying a Cibola, and having the GB mod done to it..Most of my hunting is either in town (some really deep coins), and fields where depth is needed.. I like the idea of increased speed and depth not...

    Coil cable too long?

I purchased an 8 inch donut coil for my "V". The excess cable is wrapped as a loop. Will this have any effect on how the unit operates, or should it be shortened?

8 Inch Concentric on the Vaquero

I purchased the 8 inch concentric for my Vaquero. Took it to a small yard to find the marker pins.. Yard size about ten feet by twenty five. I found a Roosevelt dime, 1962, and a plated silver heart.. Ground balancing seems to be more subtle when compared to the stock 9 by 8.. Kind of hard to...

Positive or Negative GB bias with a CS coil.

I am going ring hunting with a clean sweep coil on my Vaquero.. From what I understand ,if you are clock wise from absolute neutral,. that setting is positive and good for small gold items. Going counter clockwise, is negative, and may give more depth, but less sensitivity , to small gold...

Vaquero coin depth...KICK ME ! again

I went to two old houses that I wanted to hit for years. Only got aluminum at 4 to 5 inches. Milk bottle caps.. All the modern coins were down at 5 inches, dimes up as high as four. Remember Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does?" My settings were Sensitivity 5, Threshold, E in Tesoro...

There was a hit in Ohio about a year or so ago( possibly more?)...A metal storage box , silver, yellow filling .. A trash filled room in an abandoned house.. When the lucky stiff went back a few days later, the house had been burned.., and the property run over with a bull dozer ...Apparently...
