    Looking for ID and Dates

Yes, it's either brass or copper. Hit 68-69 on my friend's Garrett AT Max. It has a very nice patina on it. The buckle is in great shape. -Bill

    Modern Button?

I found this button this past week. It is flat and around the size of a quarter. It was dug at a 1832 house that was lived in until the 1970's. I have dug everything from a 1826 large cent to pull tabs. I always like to verify it's not old if I don't know. Thanks. -Bill

    Button

I found this button at a long old crumbling foundation in the woods. The foundation is on a 1860s map. The button says 'SCOVILL MF G Co Waterbury'. I did find that it was probably made between 1850-1865. I'm just curious if anyone has any more information about this specific button. I...

    New Deus Owner

I recently bought the Deus and probably have less than 20 hours on it. So far, I've found 3 Mercs, 4 IHs and probably 10 or so wheaties. Several of the deep coins were completely on edge. One of the Mercs was just a 1/4 inch under 9 inches. One of the other Mercs was up against a pulltab...

    Help ID Coins

A friend of mine has this coin and can't ID it. Neither can I. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    ID Help needed....

I was wondering if anyone could ID this coin? The mark on the upper right of the face looks like a scratch in person. It's not hair... :) It's the size of a large cent. I found it in farm field where an old church and school used to be. The earliest records I can find have the church there...

    Ballfield Finds

I went to a new site yesterday. A ballfield that dates back to the 1920's. I found it through some research and is about 30 miles away. When I got there I soon found out it has been detected pretty well before. There wasn't many good targets under 8 inches. I used the 10.5 for the first...

    Last couple of days...

I've been able to get out two times. I went to where I dug the LC and barber last week. Saturday, I dug two IHs. One is a 1864 IH. I think it's a 1864L. It's too worn to show the L. 1864L's have a pointed bust. Can someone tell me for certain that I have a L? Yesterday, I dug 2 IHs, 53...

The detecting gods were nice to me today... :)

I had the day off work so I decide to go swing the coil. We've pounded this park pretty hard. But, it is one of those sites that seems very moisture sensitive. Too much or too little moisture and the finds are next to nothing. I usually don't post my finds unless their pre-1900's. I ended...

    Something different...

I returned to the 1860's era school for a short hunt. The only two things to mention was a sterling ring with the initials of I.A.H. and is quite small... it says Sterling then has a U with a arrow through it... ??? Any thoughts? The second was a 1853 large cent that had been made in a...

    1860's school

I had a chance to get out yesterday. Last weekend was the first I had been out in at least a month. I was getting burned out on detecting. I think the time off has done me alot of good in re-focusing my mind on listening more intently to the Explorer... I was originally intent on going...

    After the rain...

I had a chance to detect a house I got permission on last week. The house was built in 1894. I only covered about 1/2 of the yard because of BS'ing with the owners. It paid me to BS some because I received permission on a site that dates back to the very early 1800's. Plus a possible other...

Got to swing my 3D today....

and it didn't disappoint me. I've been using some other machines I bought. Today, I grabbed my 3D with the 10.5 coil. I've only used it a handful of times this season. I went to a school built in 1933 and is still in use. The area I was detecting has enough modern trash to be a pain. So...

Why do I like the T2???

I took the T2 to an old school (private property now) that has been in use since the 1860's. I've hunted the site before. Although, they rebuilt the school around 1930 and surely moved dirt. I found some wheaties, clad and a lone IH. The IH had iron close on three sides. But, what it...
