    Coin tumbling question…

I always tumbled the clad with sand and nothing else for 3 hours... plenty of water. I then emptied water and added a couple tablespoons of aluminum jelly and tumbled for a few minutes more. Rinse thoroughly under COLD water and dry right away. Exposure to air or heat when wet turns them red...

Beach gives up quadfecta of silver dimes old buckle old marble and a mystery silver possibly Canadian?

Nice haul! That mystery coin is a Netherlands 25 cent coin from 1848 or 1849. It's 64% silver so it held up well in the water. Take care, Mike.

    Looong time since I've posted

My days of detecting on a regular basis ended many years ago, but once in a while I get out and do some swinging. And occasionally I luck out and find something good. Even my favorite beat to death park gives up one or two goodies from the soft winter ground: [attachment 371635...

First trip of the year! :detecting:

The warm weather today was too much to resist. I headed out to my favorite local park to get in some LONG overdue detecting. I didn't really expect much in the way of finds, I just wanted to enjoy a beautiful day. I started off in a patch of woods that were cleared out of the underbrush but only...

    Big Seated!

Today's hunt in the field was pretty slow with only a few hideous coins being found. An Indian cent, a Shield nickel, and a pair of V nickels were in such poor shape, they didn't warrant a pic. Then my last coin of the day was a very deep signal that ID's as a quarter. At 8 inches down the probe...

Yesterday's Finds from the field! :detecting:

Spent the day hunting with the guys out in a field. Many good finds were made... these are mine. 1853 and 1876 Seated Quarters, 1875-S Seated Dime, 1901-O Barber Dime, dateless Shield Nickel, 1888, 1889, 1891 V Nickels, 11 Indians from 1880 - 1904, 1853 Bank of Upper Canada Penny Token, And an...

First trip of the year =GOLD!!!:clapping:

It was a nice day today and I decided to visit a swimming lake that has been good to me in the past. It was drained way down for dam repairs and the entire swimming area was high and dry. I was able to hunt around the deep water area that I never could get to before. The hunting was tough...

    Day Trip !!!! :detecting:

Tagged along with Guvner to hunt a spot east of town. The ground was nice and a few signals popped up. I hit a worn out 1853 half dime, a couple roosies, and a 1899 Indian. On one of my last signals of the day, I go digging after a good signal. I was surprised by a large chunk of silver that...

    Road Trip !!!!:detecting:

On vacation for a week... time for a road trip! I decided to travel to SE Nebraska to hit some sites that I haven't been to in 11 years. For the most part, they still produced some nice coins. 2 more days left up here and I have to dodge the rain for some more detecting. Take care and HH, Mike.

    Campground silver! :detecting:

Our annual club hunt takes place at an old campground dating back to the 1930's. When we first started using this site for our fall hunt, it was sparsely hunted and contained scores of silver coins everywhere from years past. Nowadays, it has tapered off to next to nothing for those of us who...

A beautiful day for detecting... :detecting:

Days ago, while sweating to death at work, I was looking forward to today because I knew it would be a cool day and I knew I was heading out to my favorite park. I had the windows down at 6:30 this morning on the highway driving to my park. It was freezing cold and I loved it! Half of...

These beauties don't show up much anymore...:clapping:

Believe it or not this is my first silver coin of the year. I have been far too busy with too many things to get out detecting this year. It was such a cool, beautiful night last night I had to run by my favorite old park and do some swinging. I got one sweet, deep silver hit out of the old...

Another Seated coin from my favorite park! :clapping:

This is my first post using my new webphone. It works pretty slick! Went back to where I dug a Seated Quarter 2 weeks ago to see if I could get lucky again. 2 good deep hits today... 1st one, a 1918D Merc. The 2nd one was the real keeper - 1887 Seated Dime! This extends my seated dime streak to...

Hunted out park gives up another Seated!!!

Haven't posted in a long while. Haven't hunted much this year. I went out to my favorite park, this past Saturday, to try and scare up a seated dime that I haven't found yet this year. Ground was perfect for detecting and digging... I hit an area that I pulled many DEEP seated dimes out of over...

Finally got in my first trip of the year....

Between bad weather and health issues with everyone in my family, I hadn't been afforded a chance to go hunting this year until yesterday. My knees and back were protesting loudly at first but I eventually got into the groove of it. Hunted a local park where we had our club's spring hunt. Very...
