W.T.B. an MXT Pro or possibly an MXT 300

Hi. First of all I'm looking to pick up an MXT Pro in perfect working order and good condition cosmetically. It can be just the machine as I already have many of the coils from my standard MXT and I'm not in need of any other accessories. If I have no success locating a Pro model then I might...

    MXT Ground Tracking...

I've read about it numerous times and experienced it first hand but what is it about the MXT that makes it so adept at ground tracking (and hence ground balancing) as opposed to other machines ? Is it something inherent to it's higher (than most) search frequency or is it something unique in...

    Only one hunt left now...

..after doing everything I can to avoid selling the one thing I DIDN'T want to part with to pay rent, that decision was made for (taken from ?) me yesterday, 12/24. Someone broke the window in my borrowed car (truck quit working) and stole all my hard won gear. I have no options to replace it...

Careful folks, these are still dangerous....

...even when the head's cut off. This one still managed to steal one last quarter (signal) from me. I've always hated these things. Had to saw through the 3/4" root that had punched the hole in the glass to get it out....think I'll give it a final "burial at sea".

    MXT & 18" Excelerator coil..

..does anyone here have any experience w/this combo ? I recently recieved an Excelerator II Pro in a trade but I'm afraid it is bad. I tried it out for the first time but I couldn't get any solid signals so I tried to test a quarter sitting on a piece of clean ground and could barely get it to...

    One last "first"...

...for my first year in. Today marks one year to the day I started detecting. (not counting a short stint in the early 70's). About 10 months with the MXT. I finished it up in style with one last "first" for the year on my very last hunt before the rains set in. Found my first Barber Dime, a...

    Where I hunt...

Thought I'd take time while it's storming to share some photos of one of the places I've hunted with any others who are house-bound from the bad weather. I've hunted this place several times. Found a nice pocketful of clad the first time I hunted it when I was starting out (including a couple...

We threw 2 MXT's at em today...

...and we did o.k. My "pupil" Lorrie made the big score today with her first gold, a large 14K mens white-gold band ! I started Lorrie in MD'ing and picked her up an MXT some months back. She only has about 30-40 hours in so I took her to a new spot I scouted hoping to help put her on her first...

Couple wheats and a mystery silver piece...

Decided to mix it up and use the 950 coil today. Managed 2 wheats (1937 S and 1944 D) The 44' was on the surface right below the grass. I also pulled this unknown piece of old silver late in the hunt. I posted details on the Whatzit forum. If anyone has any idea what the silver piece is I'd...

    Silver beading..?

I found this piece of decorative silver on a hunt today. Coins and relics found in this area date from the 40's to as far back as late 19th century. It measures 3-1/2" x 3/8" (a couple wheats I also found are in the pic for scale) and has 3 prongs/hooks that look to have been hand soldered onto...

    Silver in all sizes...

...but I'm partial to the large one, It's my FIRST Walker Half, a 1944. ( Cajuncoinhunter, EJ I think you're contagious ) The .925 earring was a sight find towards the end of a long, unspectacular hunt. I was happy cuz I figured it would salvage the hunt with ONE decent score. Already ready to...

    Thanksgiving came early for me...

...and I'm giving thanks for Whites craftsmanship. Yes, Whites came through for me, once again, and this time the quality they put into their product saved me from my own stupidity. I digress... Monday afternoon/eve I came home from a hunt feeling pretty good (found some silver) but, life being...

And sometimes they're just plain easy...

...solid, repeating VDI at 88-90, good pinpoint, 3" down.. can't be anything but something good. Big smile. Nice 42' Washington...No great skill or story to this one. Right out in the open. Only question...how the h*** did I miss this one ? Oh well...after the great lengths we constantly go to...

    3 Keepers...

Since we have no NFL caliber teams worth watching here I spend my Sundays doing what I should be...hunting. Whites had replaced my bad 6x10 coil w/a brand new one (Todd & Whites you rock!) so I took it out for it's maiden voyage to check it out. Third signal dug was a clad nickel in a pulltab...

    Hunch find

I was at one of my favorite spots a little while ago and I was considering several options for the days hunt (it's a very large, diverse area). A small patch of ground that I'd walked by many times caught my eye. It was anything but optimal..steep hill, deep clutter, very visible public...

The leaves are changing color in California........

...and I don't mind cleaning them up. One of those strange "what are the odds" stories from back to back hunts this week. Went on a short hunt Wednesday and managed a 191x ? wheat and a large, old style screw-on silver leaf earring. Thursday I pulled a 62' rosie and finished up my hunt with...

    Happy Veterans Day to all...

...who are in service or have served...and their families. My Grandfather fought in WWl and my father in WWll. If not for their, and many others, sacrifice we all would suffer. Be sure and take a moment of silence to reflect and appreciate all that has been done for us so that hopefully someday...

    My MXT knob friction solution

I actually got the suggestion to use o-rings from a member on another forum but this is what I came up with. They are from Ace Hardware and they are o-ring bag #48, $.69(ea) The actual dimensions are 5/8" O.D. x 3/8" I.D. x 1/8" wall thickness. I tried a couple different sizes and this one seems...

    Planning 1st prospecting outing in N. Ca....Advice ?

Heading out soon on the last fishing trip of the year and I'm planning on bringing my MXT w/my 4x6 and 6x10 coils along. I'll be in Plumas Co. near the town of Chester and was wondering if anyone has some good advice as far as places to hunt, groups to contact etc. I've been detecting for awhile...

    My first steel penny....

...barely. I'll explain. This one apparently slipped under the radar when I found it. I have no idea how ?!? I was running my clad through the change-counter at the bank and it spit out a handful of "sub-par" coins it didn't like. I was going to toss it out with a couple of bad zincolns that had...
