    Li-ion 9 volt batteries

I see that the online vendors are offering lithium ion rechargeable 9 volt batteries for about $3.50-$5.00 each with claimed capacities of up to 700 mA and little no-load spontaneous discharging. Have any of you tried those and if so, how did you like them? On another note, I'm nearly 61 years...

    Nugget coils

I have seen genuine Bounty Hunter 4" coils as well as some other brand on ebay and Amazon. Do any of you know anything about the off-brand? Are they as good or maybe better than the BH ones?

    Bullet projectile location

I stayed in a US Forest Service cabin way out in the woods near Crater Lake over the Thanksgiving weekend and casually swepted my MD

    Bouncing signals and sinking coins

Okay, the BH owner's manual says that signals that bounce up and down the spectrum are most likely "junk." How do the BH circuits know to bounce for a pull tab but not for a gold ring, if they both fall into the same part of the spectrum? I have dug bouncing signals, and indeed most of the time...

    Hey Dave

Please let us know the difference between the Discovery/Elite 2200 machines and the new Legacy 2500 unit. Thanks, Mark

    Why "Time" Ranger

Why is the Time Ranger called that? What does the word "Time" have to do with the machine? I have never seen the sense in that name. Mark

    Nothing more

Well, I see that the postings here have slowed to a trickle. It appears as though every topic of discussion conceivable has been thoroughly covered and there is no need to keep this forum alive any longer. Mark

    Android app

I downloaded an app for my Android phone that provides walking directions to a parked car. Typically a driver would park, and tell his phone to remember the location. When the driver wants to return to the car, the phone provides a google map and directions back to the car. It occurred to me...

    Inexpensive sand scoop

I was watching a video on youtube recently and the detectorist said he paid $40 of his plastic sand scoop. Well, I took a look at it and thought I might be able to make one that was functionally similar for a lot less... like for almost free. Well, it cost me an empty 1/2 gal ammonia jug and...

    Is it my imagination?

I have noticed for many many years, at least I think I notice, that pennies and nickles with a 1964 date seem to have more pronounced rims along their edges. Have any of you noticed that? Other dates have a smaller and not-as-high a ridge around the edge. Mark

    Canadian quarters

I found some Canadian quarters (2006 and 2008) and passed them over the coil of my Elite 2200. They register in the nickel/iron range. Do any of you know the composition of them? There appears to be no copper in them like in USA quarters. Mark

    Last US penny

I predict that the last US penny will be made in 2012. The value of the metal in a penny already exceeds its worth I believe and I think that inflation will usher in the end of the US penny next year. This will bring in some interesting changes in society. Mark

    505 Spaz attack

I was out today putting my 505 head to head against my Elite 2200. I would turn off one and turn on the other. One time the 505 had a conniption fit and all LCD elements flashed and it beeped erratically. Have any of you experienced a spaz attack on your 505? Mark

    More on the Pioneer 505

I have been using my 505 more because I read such wonderful things about it. For sure, in all metal mode it does find deeper targets. I kept digging ring type pull tabs and kept cranking up the discrimination to eliminate them to the point it was sometimes missing zinc pennies. The dial was at...

    New invention

Some of you may remember my invention of combining a weed whacker with a metal detector so that work could be done as I play. Please recall my idea of connecting a series of metal detectors to a cart that could be pulled and when a metal object detected, a can of spray paint would mark the...

    Do you suppose...

Do you suppose that in 100 years, there will be people going around with plastic detectors looking for Air Soft BBs and taking photos of them and posting the photos on the internet? Mark

    Park sod

It seem like most parks in the Pacific NW have recently had their lawns rejuvenated via the placement of 2"-3" of sod. I find coins from the late 1990s down about 3"-4" and cannot understand how that could be unless they were sitting on the surface when a layer of sod was applied. In the...

    BH customer service

After not hearing from BH after sending them my Pioneer 505, I called to inquire about the status of the repair. I was told that they could not find a problem with the unit. The owner's manual says that the battery indicator is supposed to flash upon start up but mine didn't. I provided my CC...

    Man-o-man!!!

So I spend hundreds of hours getting muddy, digging countless holes, and scratching my head as to where I could successfully search for a silver US coin. Last year I did find a 1957 Canadian dime, but that was not a 90% silver US coin. Well, yesterday I stopped by Winco Foods and in my change...

    BH Gold Digger

I see that about two years ago, a discussion opened about the Gold Digger model. Has there been any follow-up regarding testing it against other BH units or against Minelab, White's etc.? Mark
