    Petersburg KY trip

My family and I are heading out that way for a mini vacation and my son and I were wondering if anyone in the area could recommend a spot to find a few pennies. We are looking for a park or beach that is "metal detector" friendly---not a hot spot---just a nice spot. If you are in the area and...

    Atlantic City Beach Hunting

It is said that AC has a lot of iron on the beaches. Has anyone tried TTF there? If so please chime in and if not please give me your opinion. If TTF works for dirt---why not at the beach? FYI--I will be using my excal and my son will be using my e-trac---trying to give him an advantage on depth...

    Playa del Coco--Costa Rico

Some friends of mine are getting a 2013 fishing trip together at this particular resort in Costa Rico. I have lost my zeal for fishing and just want to detect. I would be the loner on this trip and would venture out to beaches on my own. I am not a big fan of leaving America (for obvious...

    E-TRAC 01-46

Digging in the woods behind my office--80-100 yr old trees. No signs of previous habitation ( foundations etc...). Got a 01-46 reading about 4 feet from an old mulberry tree. I dug down about 8 inches and hit a very large root. I am close as my sun-ray pinpointer detects the target with ease...

    pin pointing with the E-trac

In the mid-eighties I owned a Whites 6000D. There was a button on the handle which would put you in "pin-point" mode. If you hit the button 2 or three times it would de-sensitize the coil so that only the center of the coil was active and you could really PIN-POINT your target. Along comes my...

    Two Tone Ferrous

Been trying TTF lately and am somewhat pleased. No great finds but I have noticed stronger signals from the lack of disc. that I have been using (relic mode). I think that I am going to try this at the beach this year--I really believe the depth will be increased and since I usually dig just...

Taking your long-handled scoop on a trip

Will be leaving for Florida soon and was wondering how to take ( more precisely pack ) my 44" scoop. I guess I was just thinking of boxing it up with a name tag on it--but now that the airlines are charging extra for each bag ($25)--wondering if I should ship it ahead by UPS. How does everyone...

    Outer Banks Hunting

Hello everyone--Did not realize there was a Christian site--what a great idea! Have been hunting from Corolla down to South Nags Head for a week and a half now. Cleanest beach I have ever worked. 3 and a half dollars and one key. Using e trac and excal II. Some junk ----fewer coins. Pulling a...

new excal II owner--need crash course

I hunted with my e-trac at the ocean and came close to getting swamped---hence I purchased an excal II. This machine seems to be a pretty much turn on and go machine since I do understand ( at least I think so ) the control panel fairly well. I just watched a video about the different tones put...

    BEACH HUNTING WITH E-TRAC

Started hunting with my new e-trac about one month ago---all in parks, lawns...etc...I just returned from a week in Ocean City Md. Talk about a clean beach!!! The first day I was there I hunted for about an hour and found two zincs and a token. I was using the beach mode. I was so desperate for...

Depth of larger coils at the beach

Will be taking my e trac to the Outer Banks in North Carolina In a few weeks--The Outer Banks has produced older finds from the numerous shipwrecks over the past 300 or more years. I plan on hunting the low tide area where the least amount of trash is and was wondering what, if any, the depth...

Trying to support my local dealer in Gettysburg, Pa. but he does not know when his next e trac will arrive. I am waiting patiently---not sure how long I can last before I have to look elsewhere. What is the availability in other areas of the states? Thanks for your input
