    Two firsts in one day!

I went out with the club I belong to and hunted a park in a nearby town the other day. The park was very trashy, so the pickings were slim. But I did make a couple of finds that were really good, and personal firsts. The first was a nice bouncy signal that ranged from low 20's up into the...

    Being Professional Helps!

Great finds! Can you elaborate on how you "aerate the plug" after covering the hole? I've noticed that sometimes, particularly if the soil is very dry, that even though a hole I dug may be completely invisible when I leave, the grass will turn yellow and dead looking a few days later. Would...

Wanted a Gold brick and got this.....?

That's pretty cool, no matter what it is. :clapping: When I get overloads from coke cans, they always show very shallow depth (even if they're actually very deep). You were right to dig -- obviously! :)

    Frustrated V3i swinger

Those look like some nice finds! when you get a deep signal that disappears at different angles, do you get a rejected iron target on the display? I've had plenty of deep iron that will chirp like a coin from some angles, but null out from others. Sometimes I dig them, just to see -- and so...

First half (just clad, but still...)

I went out a little Sunday morning before the heat set in. I was hoping for a silver coin or maybe a piece of jewelry or something, but it was not to be. I did find a wheat penny, a couple of old nickels, and a couple of dollars in modern clad. But my best find of the morning was a...

    Coin on Edge

I found a penny at 8" (measured) on edge with my V3 last spring, which seemed pretty impressive at the time.

    SLQ and More!!

Very nice! FWIW, I've noticed that too -- stacked targets seem to average their VDI's together.

    Frustrated V-3 swinger

If the signal is disappearing when you rescan the area, it's a false signal. When you dig anyway, you'll either find nothing at all or maybe a deep piece of iron. You might try turning your RX gain down, or your sensitivity, to see if that cuts down on the falsing. If you can get it to run...

PROFIT or KARMA... What Would You Do ???

Awesome story. He is very fortunate to have run into you. :clapping:

WHAT is the the "FG" in a ring mean ????

I always thought it meant "fine gold". I'd never seen it in two different fonts, though.

    Test your coils guys ..............................

FWIW, I have one of the earlier V3's (after the name change but before there was a manual for it). Other than the initial learning curve, I've had no problems with my V3. The original coil still works just fine (and will tolerate RX 15 with boost) despite the fact that it has spent many summer...

    Upgrading V3 To V3i

Definitely. The new stereo mixed audio mode is great (I don't use it all the time yet, but I kick over into it for "iffy" targets). And even though they say there's no reason for it to, I swear mine runs quieter and deeper.

Spectra V3i comparison to F75 and E-Trac first post

For what it's worth, my first serious detector was the V3, and I didn't find it hard to use at all. Yes, there's a learning curve, and yes, you have to put in the time to learn the machine, but that will be true of any machine. I primarily use the Coin& Jewelry program, and only tweak the...

Why Do My Coins Look Like Crud ???

My clad finds look like crud, too, if they've been in the ground long at all. The zinc pennies are often rotted away such that they're no longer usable. Silver coins look great, though. :) . Btw, the rock tumbler works great on clad coins -- just don't use it on your silver!

    High VDI pennies

For what it's worth, one site I hunt has the same problem. Pennies that VDI well into the dime/quarter range. They are all copper memorials and an occasional wheatie, and they are all deep (at least 6"). They even show the green bar dominant in pinpoint, just like a dime. For what it's...
