    If the signal is disappearing when you rescan the area, it's a false signal. When you dig anyway, you'll either find nothing at all or maybe a deep piece of iron. You might try turning your RX gain down, or your sensitivity, to see if that cuts down on the falsing. If you can get it to run...

    FWIW, I have one of the earlier V3's (after the name change but before there was a manual for it). Other than the initial learning curve, I've had no problems with my V3. The original coil still works just fine (and will tolerate RX 15 with boost) despite the fact that it has spent many summer...

    Definitely. The new stereo mixed audio mode is great (I don't use it all the time yet, but I kick over into it for "iffy" targets). And even though they say there's no reason for it to, I swear mine runs quieter and deeper.

    My clad finds look like crud, too, if they've been in the ground long at all. The zinc pennies are often rotted away such that they're no longer usable. Silver coins look great, though. :) . Btw, the rock tumbler works great on clad coins -- just don't use it on your silver!
