    Next step... Tejon?

So, after three years of using the Golden micromax, and after trying the Outlaw (not overly impressed, but probably should have given it more time), I am now looking at getting the Tejon. I like the depth that I hear about, but also think that duel disc feature would really come in handy...

I know that the 10.5 donut is no longer in production, but of the two which do you prefer and why?

Golden uMax does not disappoint today....

Two and a half our hunt on a beautiful day, finding over $7.00 in clad change and a nice 1941 Mercury dime. I was just saying this morning in another forum post that there was nothing like finding mercs, glad I was able to confirm that feelin.

Some advice regarding new coil for golden uMax please...

Was hoping to buy a new Outlaw w/3coils to compliment the golden uMax, but alas a wedding in the family has nixed that plan, so I thought maybe I could buy a new coil for the golden uMax instead. I have the 9x8 stock coil (which I don'like so much) and the 7 inch wide scan which is working...

    Golden uMax and Outlaw combo?

While I am really enjoying my golden uMax, and cannot wait for all the snow to melt and the weather to get nice again, here in eastern Ohio, I have been thinking about getting the Outlaw to compliment the GU. The Outlaw has that ground balance in the disc mode and the no motion all metal mode...

    4 silver day!!!

Had a four silver day with some clad as well. Found a nice sterling silver hoop earring and 3 silver coins. The quarter is my first with this detector and for the year. I nicked the Rosie just abit on the edge, too bad. The silver war nickel was in the same hole as the quarter, about two...

    First 2 silver finds hunt....

Went out today for a two hour hunt to the place I go that has a lot of clad and an occasional silver, wondering if today would be the day I find two silvers... Found a nice 1942 Merc and thought that was it when I called it quits. Got home and washed up the loot and lo and behold... A nice 1943...

Found my first Indian head penny at an old house sight that I received permission to hunt, then today I found my second silver dime and enough clad to surpass the $100 total.

Finally... After almost three months and $90 in clad...

I found my first silver coin with the golden uMax today, a 1942 merc, in nice shape, and I did not ding it. Was not expecting it at all, thinking it was another penny or clad dime, it was about 4 inches deep.

    Golden uMax finds more gold!

Found this beautiful cross yesterday. It is about 2 inches long, weighs 4.1 grams and was tested today to be solid 14 k gold = $95. It was about an inch below the turf. It is my second gold find for the season.

    Nice jewelry finds today...

Went out to two places with the golden uMax today, first I found this nice stainless steel ring at the edge of a BB court, then I found this nice necklace (silver?) at an old school yard, by another. Also found over $9 in clad!

    Cleaning up the clad?

Could I get some tips on cleaning up and perhaps even removing the tarnish from the clad coins I am finding? I have arock tumbler that I thought might work, but what should I put in it with the coins? Any help would be appreciated.

    First half dollar find

Found my first half dollar tonight, a bicentennial Kennedy half. Thought it was a shallow quarter the way it hit, but was nicely surprised to find the half about four inches down. Still no silver, but I'll take half dollars any day. I am really enjoying the golden uMax. I put the 7 inch...

    Coil calibration?

I own the Golden uMax and would like to get a wide scan, I am thinking about that 7 in coil. Is is really necessary to send the machine in with the coil to calibrate it? I just don't want to give up the machine for a few weeks if it is not really worth it.

First Gold... And a diamond too!

It's very thin, only 10 K, and bent up a bit. Fairly sure the stone is a diamond but will have a jeweler I know take a look at it. Found it by a basketball court, in the mulch under a big old tree. I had the Golden uMax set to make that mixed quack-like sound on nickels, got a hit with this...

Had a little heart stopper today...

Got to some time out today at a local playground, and one of the first by a basketball court turned out to be a small gold ring with three small diamonds... Well got home, cleaned it up and read the lettering inside the band... 18 kt. H.G.E. You know what that means.... Junk! Oh well, better...

Is the Golden uMax all analog? Other thoughts too...

So I was reading Chris's "Mastering the Tesoro Tejon and Vaquero" e-book for any Tesoro owner'" and he was talking about the differences between digital and analog machines. He seemed to indicate that machines with multiple tones use some digital processing of the analog signal, and I was...
