    Found this small bullet yesterday

Anyone know what type of bullet and the approximate time period it is from? Ruler is in mm so it is a little less than 1/2 inch. Thx.

Detector for an 80 yr old Newbie

I am a Tesoro and Minelab user now and had a Bounty Hunter as my first detector 20 years ago. Someone asked me to recommend a detector for an 80 year-old who wants to start the hobby, so I am asking for advice. Thx

    McCormick Reaper Centennial Coin

Went out to an area where a farm house from 1902 was demolished, Thought I had finally found a large cent but it turned out to be a 1931 Cyrus McCormick Reaper Centennial coin put out by International Harvester. A little disappointed but still an interesting find.

    First silver in awhile

I have not detected in over 3 weeks due to weather (hot!), vacation (Iceland, cold!), and having a cold. So a rare dry and not too hot day appeared and decided to go light and take out the Vaquero without earphones (still too hot) and just try a place I have hunted a few times before. To be...

Can anyone identify the approximate time period for this

I posted these photos a number of years ago but never got a definite answer on what time period this cuff-link/clasp is from. It appears to be made out of something like bronze or pewter. Thus, I am trying again if someone can identify the period or make. Thanks

    Finds apparently come at random

After not finding any nice gold rings in over 5 years, I found a gold wedding band last week on a junior high football field (read: middle school) . I had covered about 1/4 of the field, so I went back yesterday for a few hours to try to get at least to the 50 yard line!. AFter find nothing...

After many fruitless months of MDing....

Over a 3 day span I found my first Indian Head penny and my first wedding gold wedding band. The last 4 or 5 months have been fairly fruitless till now using wither my Tesoro Vaq or the 705 which is my main machine. The junk ring was found on a junior high football field about 3 inches down...

found this at at an old farm house

This is hollow, fairly heavy, and WWII Army tank in color. Does not appear to be iron, possibly old bronze or brass? AA cell for size comparison. Thanks, Andy from HIllsborough

    Cracked coil

My low freq. coil has a crack in it. I do not know if this is just in the protective cover since I do not know for sure if it has one though it looks like I could pry it off. Should I worry about it, try to epoxy the crack or leave it? Thanks, Andy from Hillsborough

Trouble with pinpointing on the 705

I have been using the 705 as my main detector for over a year now and love it. However, the pinpointing is starting to act erratically. Some times when I switch to pinpointing after I locate a target, the sound drops out completely until I go back to normal detecting and try the pinpointing...

Found this near an old dirt road and livery--any ideas?

It appears to be brass, is heavy, and is flattened like a screw driver blade at one end but it is too thick for that. Wonder if it is from horse tac. (penny is for sizing!) Thanks Andy in Hillsborough

Found this near an old homestead site

Any ideas what this is? Says "Ford made in USA". Nickel is for size comparison. Thanks, Andy from Hillsborough

    2.5 hr hunt

Went on a 2.5 hour hunt yesterday since it was cool, sunny, and had rained a bit to loosen up the soil. Went to a church camp area that I have hunted many times before including a climbing ropes area. After 2.5 hours I had found an old key, 46 cents in clad, a match box car and some pull tabs...

    short hunt with the 705

Went out today for a short hunt at an old church i have hunted many times before. Found some clad, an old 1900's headstamp from a shotgun shell, a bullet, and my first barber dime. How deep was it? It was lying on the surface probably because of erosion from 5" of rain last week. Andy from...

I would appreciate some help in identifying these bullets: age, type. I found them in an NC farm field that has some Revolutionary War history. Thanks, Andy from Hillsborough

    Back to the Farm Field

Went back to the farm field where I found the grape shot and J-hook, and spent 2 hours on so re-tilled land with my 705. After 2 hours I found some modern shells but also these 2 bullets. If any one can give me approx. dates or eras. I would appreciate it. Andy from Hillsborough

    Farm Field Finds

I was out hunting in an old farm filed with the 705. There was some Revolutionary War action there, but I have never found anything of interest. Thought the same thing happened this Sunday. I found a heavy round object that I first thought was a rock and what I thought was an old farm clip of...

    Farm field find

Any idea what this may be? I found it in a recently plowed field that had some Revolutionary War History. I have no idea if it is a shot or just iron junk. It weighs just under 8 oz and is iron and round. Andy from Hillsborough
