    Damaged coins

I took all my split, damaged, toasted and gunkie coins and mailed them to the U.S. Mint mutilated coin office. The website said payment could be expected in 6 or 8 weeks. Today I received a check for over $85. The whole process took less than 3 weeks.

    I learned alot this weekend.

None of this related to metal detecting, but I thought I would share a few things I was surprised to learn recently. Yesterday I was in a bank turning in some coins, and a man walks up to the tellers window next to me and asks to use the public restroom. The teller said "Sure come right this...

    Stay off the grass.

I ran into one of our founding members, several years ago while hunting at "Big D". I was on my way back to my car having been in the woods for a couple hours. He saw me sweeping the grass as he pulled up. Anyway he told me that if I wanted to find the good stuff to "stay off the grass". For the...

    It was so hot today..........

I saw two dogs chasing a cat, and all three were walking. Actually I took a little ride into Wisconsin and things don't look any better up there.

Have a great day, Nancy. Make Larry take you somewhere nice for dinner. Here is a birthday riddle for you. What do you call 2 nickels that are connected?

A question for long time T-2 users.

I bought my first T-2 in the spring of 2007. And I traded for a second one since. Normally I run it with full discrimination most all the time. This year I have noticed that I am digging lots of pull tabs, beaver tails and bottle caps, that I never use to. I don't pay alot of attention to the...

    06-03-12

[attachment 234560 06-03-12.JPG] I didn't hear/read of any activities, going on this weekend, so I set off solo, in search of great treasure. Surprisingly I actually found one sweet little keeper, along with a couple dollars worth of clad. It is a dime and no mint mark darn it.

My Mother's Day present to me.

Set out this morning with a goal of 50 coins. Also known as "quota" to those of you who are fans of Leslie from Nova Scotia. Ended the day with 50 coins. I actually thought I would be a couple short. I hunted for over 4 hours with nowhere close to answer the call. And zero trees. Ended with 25...

    Civil War Belt Plate

I haven't posted here is quite some time, but I thought some of you might enjoy seeing this. On March 31st of this year I was hunting the wooded area of a North/Central Illinois park when my T-2 locked on to a very deep, but solid sounding target. At 10 inches I pulled a Union Civil War buckle...

    03-31-2012

Since today's weather sounds like it will be ultra perfect for a walk, let's see how many silvers we can pull out of the ground today. Sound off with the number you find, before you go to bed tonight. You don't have to say what, or how old, because some people want to keep that a secret for the...

    Nancy's Photo on TV

A certain Nancy Fillman of Eureka, had a weather photo on channel 25 at 6PM. You may catch it at 10 PM, I'm not sure. Perhaps she will share it with us.

OFF clip on bug repellent fan.

For what it's worth, I bought one of those OFF insect repellent fans that clip on your belt. I am very impressed with how well it works. I use it when detecting and in the garden. The West side of my garden borders the tree lined alley behind the house and it is horrible with mosquitoes. Each...

    Recent finds (no detector needed)

I work in a grocery store. A week ago friday, one of the cashiers was having trouble with her cash register, so I went up to the front of the store to help her out. When we got it working sgain, she opened the drawer and I saw the bell on the reverse of a Franklin half. I asked if it was in the...

    Span and Wrap

Do I have to have the V3i to adjust the span and wrap settings, or am I missing something on my Vision. I followed the directions on the posts from the eighth of May, but don't see where it is adjustable.
