Difference between a gold ring and a pull tab using polar plot!!

The problem lies in the fact that gold rings vary so much with the alloys (18kt, 14kt, 12kt, 10kt, etc.) and the difference in size/thickness of rings. The same problem would occur with pulltabs. Size and shape plus varying alloys will give you different VDI's. That's why you have to dig a lot...

    Battery charging question...

In the manual it states that they recommend that once a month you drain and recharge the batteries. How do you all completely drain the batteries? I've charged my unit when I received it a few weeks ago and it still shows full bars on the control box and coil. I guess I could leave the unit...

My 2nd hunt with the Deus was awesome!

I bought this unit from Meditech1 who was having trouble using it in his soil. I did a restore of the factory programs and decided to start slow and use Basic 1. After my first hunt (which was only 45 minutes and yielded two Rosies), I decided to change the tones a bit to suit my liking. That is...

    Deus pin-point question...

Hi all, I finally made the plunge and bought a Deus (used). One thing I noticed is I will get a good, repeatable, 2 way tone and when I switch to pin-point I get nothing at all. It goes silent. I made sure the coil was waste high when putting into pin-point mode. At first I thought maybe the...

    Having a Problem?

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. I hunted elk in the Little Naches area for 10 years. Awesome location! I gather from your post that your main problem is lack of depth. Your post states "stock programs" so I'm assuming you didn't change much if anything. First off, try holding the unit out waist...

    Modulation

Just curious..... why is the dominant frequency mostly 7.5 kHz and even one 2.5 kHz? I thought gold was supposed to hit the high frequency (22.5 kHz) the hardest. When hunting old fair ground parking lots, I would only dig targets on the low end of the positive VDI range if 22.5 kHz dominated...

    Modulation

Like Larry said, if you hunting in an area that is littered with pull tabs down 4 or 5 inches, you can turn on modulation and listen for the more faint signals and ignore the tab signals. I guess it has its place but like others, I am hard of hearing so I'm not sure I am getting the intended...

    Follow up

Rob makes a good point. Posters need to let everyone know if they found something wrong with your unit when it was sent in, so that others that may have a similar problem can make an informed decision whether or not to send their unit in for a check up.

Spectra V3 good deal? Searchcoil selection?

If its upgraded to a V3i, the software is the same. White's offered the upgrade option for the customers who bought V3's close to the V3i unveiling. Anybody can get a V3 upgraded to a V3i for $125... at least I believe that offer is still out there.

    Ground EMI problems.....

A long story short, my situation at my house is, the detector (V3i) is silent when held waist high & silent while on the ground. I can not detect at dime @ 7" in my test garden. I tried all the normal setting combinations to give you more depth, nothing worked. On a whim, I tried a frequency...

Quick review of the new 12x15 (white) SEF Coil *With 2 Firsts*

So that tells me they are NOT v-rated. In all fairness, the ad says they are "optimized" for the V3i, it does not sat it is v-nulled.
