Finally, my first silver! Big surprise.

I've been looking since last fall minus the terrible winter we had. Finally it happened today, my first silver. To top it off, it's a half! The odd part is that it barely rang up on the etrac....faint signal. I dug thinking it was a penny....nice surprise!

    Frustrated!!!

Okay............I have put my time in and still no silver......1 indian, several wheats, and lots of clad but I can't seem to get the silver curse off of me. I basicaly started detecting this spring and mostly for civil war relics at that time but I have since decided I want to search for old...

    TTF Question.....

I have tried the two tone ferrous a little lately......... I was searching at an old home site and kept getting high signals with a "44" for example but the other number would be maybe in the 30's or so. Every time I dug I kept getting square nails. Obviously I didn't find a coin, but still...

    ETRAC in high trash

This weekend I spent some time with my Etrac around a very old log/wood house that has fallen in. Sheets of metal lying around and very tough location because of the vegitation growth. The machine was constantly "blanking out". I have to believe there is something good to be found but no...

    on a roll with pins

Found these two pins in different locations the last two times I've been out. Can anyone identify? I believe the smaller one is older because I found it in a location that I found some wheaties and a 1892 indian. The larger of the two I found along with 1 wheatie and some memorials. Any help...

    Etrac vs xterra 705

Just for curiosity's sake, I have an X-terra 705 and have been eyeballing the etrac. Is there a significant difference? Worth the difference in cost? Thanks for any tips. I'm thinking of trying to pick up a used one if I could find a good deal. Thanks!

The wife being out of town and the internet all to myself became dangerous last night.......I ordered the coiltek digger coil! Really anxious to get it and try it out. So now that it's on the way what can I truly expect when it arrives? I have the stock 9" 7.5 and a 10" 7.5 DD coils----what...

    Yes or no......

Still trying to figure out the 705......I have a lot where an old house once stood. To date I have found 3 or 4 wheaties, a skeleton key, and so other trash items. I consider this my practice area to try to learn my machine. Situation, do you guys wait till you get a solid hit before you...

    Can anyone identify these???

I have a vacant lot here [i]in town[i] where an old house once sat. The lot next to mine still has an old house sitting on it that was built in 1936. I use these two lots as my practice areas and I have found a couple wheats and some other odd items such as a skeleton key. I keep finding...

    Soil types and depth

Yesterday I decided to do a test site to determine the performance of my 705 with the stock 9" 7.5 coil. I buried clad dimes to use as my test coins at 4, 5, and 6 inches. With automatic ground balance set and sensitivity turned to 30 I got a good solid reading on the 4", whisper on the 5"...

    Ready for a new coil.........

I purchased my 705 with the stock 9", 7.5 coil a couple months ago. I think I'm ready for a better coil. The places I'm hunting tend to be really trashy. Overall, which would be the best upgrade coil for me? I appreciate any advice. (BTW, looking for civil war relics and coins)

    Minelab profind pointer

Not sure this is the proper place for discussion of the minelab pointer, but I would appreciate some facts.......I've been eyeballing the garrett pinpointers and finally decided to pick one up. After 3 phone calls to order, all 3 places were sold out and on back order at the $127.45 price...

    New 705----Help!

All, I'm relativity new to detecting. I've been using a Tesoro Silver Umax for a few years sparingly. I just purchased a 705 with the standard coil (9", 7.5khz). I'm really having some concerns, hoping I made the right decision. I took it out a couple times this past weekend and had no luck...
