Minelab 1/8" to 1/4" adapter for Equinox

To use a pair of my favorite wired detecting headphones on the 600 instead of the ones Minelab supplies, is there any reason to use the much higher priced 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter Minelab makes over a generic one? Thanks for any help.

Impressed with the Teknetics Minuteman / Eurotek Pro

Not much happening on this forum lately, so I thought I'd share some thoughts. I recently bought a Tek Minuteman (a re-branded, lower priced Eurotek Pro) and it's a better than I expected little detector. And a lot of fun to use. It won't push either of the higher end detectors I'm currently...

    :teknetics:Eurotek Pro w/8" coil = :teknetics:Minuteman?

Is the Minuteman a straight re-badging of the Eurotek Pro, or are there any updates with the newer Minuteman? I know this is a long shot, but has anybody tried both?

The Vanishing Indian - ground wear or die error?

Dug this Indian penny recently. The reverse is quite legible, the obverse is completely missing. I've looked at it with a loupe, no sign of anything on the obverse. If the ground did it, what chemical reaction would cause one side to wear so completely and the other not at all?

Headphones cutting out on AT Pro

I have been battling a intermittent issue with my AT Pro so I want to see if anyone here is having, or has had, the same issue. A few months ago the audio started cutting out intermittently from the headphones and would instead come through the speaker. I did the obvious checks first, making...

Silver #700 and numerous thank yous!

At the end of November I found my 700th silver coin. Got a tiny bit hopeful before I cleaned the dirt off and looked at it carefully. Saw a 191 for the first three numerals of the date and the flip side was a D mintmark. Closer inspection of the worn coin showed a top of the fourth numeral...

    Used detectors prices down

Anybody else noticed how soft the used detector market has gotten? Used detector prices that don't reflect this reality are going unsold.

First time fooled by gray silver in 693 pulls

I've dug numerous silvers with varying degrees of gray/black discoloration, but there was always at least a glint of white or enough difference from the brown/reddish brown of clad to give me that initial hunch of silver. Last Saturday I pulled this dime shaped object out of the ground and...

It took over 9 years...finally key date silver!

I've got well over 3,000 wheaties I've never checked the dates on, so I can't say for sure this is my first key date coin. But copper and nickel coins lose almost all value when they make a home in the ground, so this is definitely my first key date coin of any consequence. It hit consistently...

What's the difference between the Bandido Umax and Bandido II Umax?

I read a lot of positive talk about the Bandido II Umax but not the Bandido Umax. I bought a small lot of Tesoro detectors that included a closet queen Bandido Umax. My initial impression is that it handles iron very well with nice audio and expected micromax depth. What does the II have that...

Call a Finds sponsor for the best price on a detector!

I was over on another forum when a post by someone with over 20 years experience made me realize he didn't know how metal detector pricing works. That made me think about newcomers to the hobby. If some old-timers to the hobby don't know, surely many newcomers do not know either. When you...

    8.5" cz-3d

As most of us know, the cz-3d is all over the place when it comes to performance of individual units. There was a NASA Tom tuned one that sold on ebay recently and when I asked the seller what depth the unit was certified at the answer was the lowest I've seen yet...8.5"

Download a warranty form when you buy from Predator Tools

George Lesche's Predator Tools makes great products. The Raptor is by far my most used digging tool. Besides making sturdy tools, they have a 5 year warranty which is excellent. I just received my third Raptor from Predator Tools since I started detecting and, same as both times before, I got...

AT Pro airtesting with various coils

I posted this over on the NEL forum, thought it would be appropriate here as well. These are numbers from an AT Pro airtest I did a few months back with a Mercury dime: Full 7 bar sensitivity. Measured to half inch intervals. Measured to what I would consider a potentially diggable audio...

Vulcan 360 pinpointer review - The Good, The Bad, and the Really Ugly:thumbdown:

First off, I want to say the performance of the Vulcan 360 is a big step up performance wise for Chinese made-for-Kellyco stuff. This is a much better product than Kellyco's Automax line of pinpointers. Since I've loved the Garrett Pro-Pointer the past 5+ years, and lots of other people have...

Props to King Dufus and the Dorkmaster

OK, I know this subject has been pounded into the ground and multiple times I've posted my thoughts about the negative effect on the hobby from these two guys and their moronic antics on "Diggers" The show is set to record on my DVR and at the end of the last couple seasons I've erased a...

    CZ-3D - The Second Time Around...

I had a Dankowsk1 calibrated cz-3d last year, but I threw in the towel after a couple months. The slower optimum sweep speed was a negative for me, but the biggest issue was the iron falsing. But the detector kept calling me back. The depth, the enhanced mode and nickels in high tone were all...
