    Morgan--finally!

I don't generally post finds, but feel this one is worthy. Was traveling across the state (Colorado) and decided to stop at a city park for an hour and swing my equinox 800. Found that the locals have done a good job of cleaning out almost all high tones, but toward the end of the hour I got a...

    Silver, Big and Small

Slow detecting year, healing from hip replacement #1 in the spring, waiting for hip #2 in December. But with decent weather for this time of year, hit a local park for a couple of hours today. First target of the day was the barber half. CTX gave 12-46/47 first, then 09/10/11-47 at a depth...

    Short Roadtrip

Took a short roadtrip with an old retired AF buddy and metal detected town parks and door knocked. Used both the etrac and CTX, but posting here for convenience. The bracelet is silver and turquoise...and not all there. The large tax token is from Colorado, the other is from Utah. Dimes are...

Weather Is Holding In CO...for now

Got back out for a while each of the last two days, both times in local parks. Found the (1938D) merc (8") and wheat (10") in the same park where I found the Washington and merc last weekend. Found the ring at park I've only found a couple of wheats before. It came in at 12-47 at a depth of...

    Winter Respite

Winter is giving those of us in the mid-mountain states a chance to get out--and I have a few times; once before the snow storm that hit two weeks ago and twice last weekend. The January 30th trip to a town park started out pretty good. Twenty minutes out of the truck and I had two Rosie's and...

    Tags

The temperature has been into the 40s for several days, so thought I'd ask south facing lot today. Ground was mostly still hard, but got a couple of good signals that I chipped out. Both appear to be copper tags. The smaller one says "Inspected and Approved 1897". The other is just the...

    2015 Keepers

This was the first year of being halfway serious about detecting and these are my keepers. Eight of the dimes were found with the CTX, but the balance was with the etrac. -favorite find: 1877 Seated Dime. HH to all in 2016.

    Big and Little Silver Today

Took a little road trip today and hit some parks. Found a nice 1934 walker at 9" and a 1936 merc. Oldest wheat is 1917 the others are 1950s. It has snowed twice in the last week and am afraid we're going to be frozen out before long. HH Ron

    1884 House

Got out for a couple hours this morning. Lady I work with recently moved into a house originally built in 1884 and said I could detect it. Wasn't hot and heavy but found a few keepers. Barber dime is 1907; V-Nickel is 1904; Indians are 1891 and 1907 (gouged), wheats are 1909 (vdb), 1916D and...

Finally Back on the Silver Wagon

Went on a combination deer hunting and metal detecting trip this week and had success at both. Put a doe in the freezer and found these keepers. Detected an old motel property first. Only got to hunt for two hours one afternoon after the sun thawed the ground. Found the two quarters, a merc...

    First Silver with the CTX

Got my CTX in August along with Andy's book. Followed some of the recommended training configurations in local parks. Currently visiting my folks in SW VA. Have only been out detecting a couple of times so far. The first afternoon, I hit a local park for less than an hour and found the ring...

    New CTX this Week

Received my new CTX from BBH this week. Bart gave me a great deal and am looking forward to learning its capabilities. I've had an etrac for a couple years, so the learning curve shouldn't be too bad. Took it out on Wednesday and found my first coin--1944D wheat. Look forward to many more...

    What is it?

Found this yesterday at a house built in 1910. Anyone know what it might be? Thanks,

    Washington and Wheat

Got out for a little while on Monday and found a couple of keepers. From some posts I gather that wheaties aren't keepers in everyone's eyes, but I kinda like them. Think everyone considers the 1945S Washington a keeper, though. Headed through Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and Washington for the...

    Old Pocket Watch

Got back out today and found this pocket watch in a local park. It has "Columbia USA" and S/N 6948665 on the mechanism and "Warranted 20 years" inside the back cover. The hinge-pins are rusted out on back cover and the winding knob was rusted and broke as soon as I touched it. No silver, but...

    SW VA Old Carnival Site

Have been following the eTrac site since I bought my machine a year ago, but this is my first post. Visited family in SW Virginia last week and hunted an old carnival site. It has been hunted for years by my extended family--all with various flavors of whites machines. Guess this is a...
